Guangzhou: Is It Actually Fun, Though? 1

Alright, you got it! I'll take care of this for you! As for Guangzhou, I'm quite familiar with it!

I plan to spend a couple of days in Guangzhou during the weekend, just to relax.

    • I was talking with a friend about these ideas and asked him if he had any tips on what to do there (you know, those local insider tips).
      • He told me that he'd been there a few years ago and found Guangzhou not interesting at all. The food wasn't great either, and the weather was quite hot - the kind of humidity that makes you feel like you're stuck inside. I was taken aback by his comments.
    • Is this true? I'm a bit doubtful...
      • You see, Guangzhou's legendary food is precisely the selling point that made me want to visit in the first place! Dim sum, roast goose, sweet soup... Just thinking about it makes my mouth water!
      • Also, there are places like Beijing Road (supposedly a popular pedestrian street where you can shop and look for some remnants of old streets), and Dongshan Street (known for its beautiful old houses, small shops with unique character)... Are these places really as uninteresting as my friend said?

⚠️ Important tip from my friend (or maybe my overthinking):

    • Hot Weather: Guangzhou does tend to be quite hot throughout the year, especially in summer. Humidity will make you feel stuffy.
      • What to do? Apply sunscreen, bring an umbrella, stay hydrated. Try to avoid going out during the hottest parts of the day. Most indoor spaces have air conditioning, so it shouldn't be much of a problem.
    • "Boring and Bad Food": This might be subjective, depending on personal tastes and whether or not one knows how to find the good spots.
      • What to do? Don’t trust just one person! Look up more resources, specifically recommendations from locals. Guangzhou has many famous restaurants and street stalls, so it’s worth exploring on your own!

Anyone who has recently visited Guangzhou, please share your real experiences and impressions! Is it truly as my friend put it, or am I just overthinking it? Waiting eagerly!
