And you absolutely must drive; only by driving can you truly experience this 'science park'.

The most fun places in Shenzhen are: Hong Kong, Huizhou, Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, and Macau.

Since you've already come all the way to Shenzhen, you might as well find a job before you head back.

Shenzhen's food scene includes: Longjiang pork trotter rice, Chongqing hot pot, Northeast Chinese cuisine, Hunan-style stir-fried beef, Chaoshan beef hot pot, and Hainanese coconut chicken.

The best place for fun in Shenzhen is Shenzhen North Railway Station; you can go anywhere from there.

To me, Shenzhen has absolutely no charm.

Shenzhen isn't really a tourist city; it's more of a livable one. The dining and shopping are just so-so, and the beaches are pretty average, not even as good as Huizhou's. However, Shenzhen has good amenities, a pleasant urban environment, and fewer tourist traps. If you're looking for a hassle-free trip, Shenzhen is actually a decent choice. In this regard, even Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong can't compare.

Guangzhou is the truly livable city. Shenzhen's pace is way too fast; it feels like if you pause for even a second, you'll be left behind.

Judging by the crowds during this May Day holiday, I'd suggest you bring some local specialties from your hometown, apply for a night market stall, and make some money. That'd be the best plan.

The seaside there is quite pretty, isn't it? I'm from Guangzhou and have never really explored Shenzhen properly, always just passing through. But I'd love to go hiking there or do something similar on a weekend.

Hiking for some exercise is pretty good, though.

A friend is visiting Shenzhen and asked for the most fun spots. After thinking about it, I guess the thing that gets 'played with' the most in Shenzhen is probably my emotions.

Actually, strolling around the Shekou area isn't too bad. It would probably be quite pleasant, especially if it weren't crowded during May Day.

No crowds on May Day? Shenzhen is absolutely packed during the May Day holiday!
