Alright, Guangdong Peeps: You Gonna Explain This, Or...?
-
Wow, girl, I totally get you! Last week, when I went to Guangzhou for a trip, it was so hot I felt like melting there!
- This weather, oh my goodness! 35 degrees Celsius, muggy and humid. Do you know what I mean? That feeling where the air seems thick enough that you can almost squeeze out water from it.
- After all the meticulous makeup I put on in my hotel room, just a few steps outdoors and you could see my foundations, concealers, and sweat intermingling, flowing down, turning me into an actual "water" "glow" "skin" (laughing bitterly). I was near tears!

- So, seriously, I really want to consult the girls from Guangzhou or any other places in Guangdong Province:
- Do you really wear makeup under this sauna conditions?
- If you do, what kind of amazing primer products can make your makeup stay intact and not succumb under such weather? The summers in Guangdong really put one's makeup skills and products to a real test, don't they?
A reminder for friends traveling to Guangdong (especially foreign friends):
- Be wary of high temperature and humidity warnings!
- Guangdong is one of China's southern provinces and its capital city is Guangzhou. Here, it is subtropical climate, so summers (from roughly May to October) can be extremely hot with high air humidity to boot, making it feel even hotter and more sticky than it actually is.
- How to combat "melting makeup"?
- Simplify your makeup: Preferably go for light makeup, or just use some tinted sunscreen and setting spray.
- Choose long-lasting products: If must-do makeup, remember to pick water-resistant, sweat-proof, and long-lasting foundations, eyeliners, mascaras, etc.
- Bring blotting papers/powder with: You can promptly absorb extra oily skin, and touch up your makeup by dusting more powder.
- Relax mentally: Sometimes, embracing the reality of "melting makeup" and immersing yourself in the heavy sweat travel experience could also be a choice!

So now you know why many Guangdong girls often go makeup-free, right? Basically, we just put on some tone-up cream and head out.
-
Hahaha, that's right! I only started wearing foundation after I moved to Shandong. Back in Guangdong, I'd just grab a couple of essentials and be out the door.
-
Before clicking: 'Oh great, more regional stereotyping?' After clicking: 'No kidding, it's all true!' I don't want to get ripped off, has anyone actually used it and can share their experience?
-
For us Guangdong cosplayers... one big white tube (of sunscreen/body makeup) for the whole body is all you need, hahaha.
-
Bare-faced.
-
Hahahahaha, the 'perk' of slacking off at work is that you girls can spend a few dozen bucks and then eagerly await my review...
-
Just dropping in to leave a mark.
-
No makeup.
-
Please refer to Xue Zhiqian – he's practically the poster child for wearing makeup in Guangdong's summer (hint: it melts right off!).
-
Hahahaha
-
No makeup, tie your hair up, and try to stay indoors as much as possible.
-
Foundation? In Guangdong's summer, I wish I could just go bald!
-
I thought you were asking about what to wear, like if leggings, an oversized T-shirt, and baggy shorts would be enough to go out.
-
Most don't wear makeup. Otherwise, what miracle product do you think could possibly withstand 40°C (104°F) outdoors?
