Hello, sisters planning to visit the magic city of Shanghai! Let me give you a piece of advice: Shanghai isn't suitable for a spontaneous trip like "say and go" travel! You need to do your homework! Otherwise, you might end up experiencing all sorts of pitfalls that first-timers would stumble upon. Believe me, it'll leave quite an impression.

If you’re planning to visit Shanghai from May to July ✈, make sure to save this guide! It’s a cost-effective solution to avoid the common pitfalls of traveling in Shanghai. I hope everyone's journey will be full of joy and satisfaction!

📝 Insider tips to ensure you don't miss out on any fun without falling into traps:

    • ① The Oriental明珠Tower: (That sharp-tipped iconic TV tower of Shanghai!) Shuts off its lights at 10 p.m.; if you want to see its sparkling beauty, better get there early.
    • ② When you're wandering around the urban area of Shanghai, taking the subway is undoubtedly the fastest and most convenient option. Avoid challenging yourself with a private hire or bus during rush hours; it can be as tedious as doubting life itself!
    • ③ Wukang Apartments (It's a historic, boat-shaped apartment building that has become a trendy place). I recommend visiting it in the morning for photo shoots. In the afternoon, it could be so crowded you may only take photos against others' backs.
    • ④ Tianzifang: Personally, it's somewhat declining now, due to commercialization, so I don’t really recommend it specially with extra trips.
    • ⑤ Yu Garden (A beautiful Chinese classical garden situated beside City隍God’s Temple, a business district). A visit in the evening after it starts to illuminate would be the perfect time. But beware of the snacks inside the business district; they're expensive and not necessarily tasty. You could be fleeced rather easily.
    • ⑥ Want to see the night view of the two banks of Huangpu River? No need to waste more than 100 yuan on fancy cruises! Head to Donganlu Ferry Pier and board a cruise with only a 2-yuan ticket. Same beautiful scenery, sky-high cost effectiveness! But make sure to arrive at the dock before 6:30 pm.

🏨 Where should you stay to enjoy a good view and convenient transportation? Here are some hotels that I investigated:

(Note: Prices listed below are per person per night, some hotels provide discounts when booking for more than one night.)

    • Shanghai EDITION: (Starting at 1167 RMB/night/person, pay special attention to packages with discounts for 3 nights)
      • 📍 Right on Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street (one of Shanghai’s busiest shopping streets). It is walking distance from the Bund — the most famous riverside scenic area in Shanghai. Take a drink upstairs in the hotel's rooftop bar and enjoy the view over the Bund at night, what a luxury!
    • Shanghai Bund W: (Starting at 1667 RMB/night/person, pay special attention to packages with discounts for 3 nights)
      • 📍 Located on the east bank of Huangpu River, this hotel provides breathtaking views over the whole landscape of the Bund, with its floor-to-ceiling windows facing the Oriental Pearl tower. Near IFC Mall, adjacent to the Pearl Tower; dining and shopping are extremely convenient here.
      • 📍 This is an absolutely great spot to admire “Three Shanghai Masterpieces” (Shanghai Center skyscraper, International Financial Center, Jin Mao Tower); the hotel’s style is trendy and modern, with a super enjoyable view of nightlife at the poolside bar. A photographer's dream!
    • Peace Hotel in Shanghai: (Starting at 1289 RMB/night/person)
      • 📍 It ranks among the most historically significant hotels in Shanghai. Located where the Bund intersects with Nanjing Road, it holds a prime position. You can admire views over the Bund and the landscapes across the Huangpu River, immersing yourself in the authentic charm of Shanghai.
      • 📍 This is one of the most famous hotels in Shanghai. Located on the bund and adjacent to Nanjing Road, it offers an unobstructed view of the Huangpu River and the Oriental Pearl Tower. It is built above the IFC Mall and next to the Pearl Tower, making shopping and dining extremely convenient.

✔ If you wonder how to book these hotels’ deals:

    • Leave me a message stealthily, using the signal word: "888"!
