Shanghai Travel Experiences and Recommendations -
Shopping in Shanghai Has Lost Its CharmIf you're young, check out TX Huaihai, Nice Rice, and the vintage shops on Xindalu and Changle Road. There are also local designer stores like Doe. These are just a few examples, and there's more to explore if you know where to look.

Taiwanese First-Timer's Deep Dive into China: What Absolutely Blew My Mind!A lot of people recommend Chengdu, saying that even if you can't handle spicy food, your chances with romance will be great. I wasn't keen on going at first, but after hearing that, now I'm really wondering if I should go or not?!

Ready to Translate Your China Travel WTFs! Lay It On Me.Actually, everyone code-switches. Taiwanese users on Xiaohongshu ('Little Red Book') will also be 'villagers' on PTT. It's like 'speak to people in their language, and to devils in theirs' – you adapt to your audience.

Shenzhen: My Two Cents (Spoiler: It's... Something)I've visited Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen this year. It was my first time in Shenzhen. Honestly, the attractions weren't particularly surprising, but the city's urban planning and development are truly excellent, and everything looks very modern and new.

Pretty Sure Chimelong Just Pulled a Fast One on Me!Sis, I hate to tell you this, but you overpaid. Douyin's official website had a deal where I got a 2-day, 1-night multi-park pass for 1598 yuan, and it even came with a 300 yuan buffet voucher.

Is it just me, or is everyone in Guangzhou permanently set to 'LOUD'?Seriously, I think there might be regional differences. They're probably just used to it where they come from. It's just so incredibly loud.

The World's Freakin' Big. So I Had a Look. In China.I know a young security guard at a middle school. He doesn't smoke, drink, or date. His sole passion is visiting museums. In Beijing, his life is basically work and museums. When he finds an exhibition he loves, he'll spend the entire day there. In his spare time, he meticulously studies the pieces he's seen, examines photos, researches them, and then revisits. It could be a sculpture, a vase, or a painting. The Forbidden City's ten-visit annual pass isn't nearly enough for him. Whenever he has a bit of leave, he explores museums in the Beijing vicinity. Talk to him about museums, and his eyes just light up. He truly loves Beijing.

Welp, guess it's fortune teller o'clock. To understand current matters, you can consult Liu Ren (a divination method). It's best to ask about one specific issue at a time. This can provide insights into relationships, career, and more. If you have a question, there's an answer.

Welp, guess it's fortune teller o'clock.Let me share a personal experience. Before I married my ex-husband, I secretly went to a fortune teller. The master told me my then-boyfriend's career was taking off, which was true, but also that his marriage luck wasn't good. He said it would be very hard for us to make it to the end, and that he attracted a lot of female attention (literally 'peach blossoms'), advising me to be wary. I didn't believe it at all because we were already engaged and both our families were happy. Then, in our second year of marriage, he started coming home late every night. I didn't think much of it at first. But then I accidentally found out he was having affairs. So, I decided to divorce him. Thinking back to what the master predicted, I'm truly in awe of his skills. Now, whenever I have concerns, I consult him. Just a few days ago, I visited him, and he said I'll meet a dependable person this July or August. I'm so excited!!!!!

My Turn to Roast the Suzhou Metro!Shanghai used to be like this too, forcing you to download a specific app just to take the subway.

Roasting Suzhou (Just a Smidge!)Hello everyone, upon just arriving in Suzhou, I must complain about the Suzhou-Nan Station!
️
To be honest, the design of this station left me a bit puzzled, especially when it comes to exiting:
- The signage is just too unclear; finding an exit feels like a guessing game.
Furthermore, the taxi experience must be emphasized, pay attention!
️ Attention! Taxis at Suzhou-Nan Station require a specific technique:
- When you call for a taxi through your phone, the driver doesn't directly come to pick you up.
- He first drives his own car to the parking lot, finds an open spot, and parks there.
- Then, he informs you of that parking spot’s number.
- Finally, you find his vehicle based on that number.
Imagine all this drama resulting in overcrowding in a small area where everyone is waiting for the drivers to provide their parking spot number. It’s so time-consuming and chaotic!
This being my first visit to Suzhou, I was expecting a delightful surprise; instead, the station instantly gave me a negative first impression!
Sigh, my heart yearns reminiscing about Hangzhou (already on day 3 of missing Hangzhou, which is much more streamlined!).Hope those heading to the Suzhou-Nan Station get a heads up! @button_to_suzhou (Wonder if the station management see my complaint? )

May 2nd West Lake Sculling Boat: The LowdownExactly! I mustered up the courage to shout out twice, but then I realized the boatmen only stop where there are big crowds. So, I gave up.

Sorry, Hangzhou. Turns Out You're Freaking Awesome!Hey everyone, sorry to go off-topic, but I need some help!
-
Hangzhou? Seriously, Just Don't. (For Now)It looks like the tour boats aren't running, so you might have to hike instead.

Travelled with a friend. Pretty sure this trip killed our friendship. Thanks for all the comments, everyone. I'm back home now! Reading through them all, I'll definitely give this relationship some serious thought. If we can't remain friends in the end, I'll move on. And finally, a huge thank you to the people of Zhejiang!! Hangzhou is beautiful! Also, thanks to everyone who took the time to comment.

Shanghai Planetarium & The Bund: My Unfiltered Musings (and a Few Grumbles)The planetarium can be a bit of a hassle, you really need to plan ahead… When I visited, it had just opened, and I was actually going for Dishui Lake and Line 16. That area was quite an ordeal

My Brain Cells in China: "Please Translate!" #chinatravelwtfMost Taiwanese people are very friendly and enthusiastic. I've visited before and had a great experience. The aggressive individuals you see on TV and online are definitely in the minority.
