Shanghai Wildlife Park? Ocean Aquarium? I think these are all good options.

My Suzhou trip? Pretty much JUST these 9 pics... (Locations included 🥹)Hello, everyone, all travel enthusiasts! The beauty of the Jiangnan Water Town is truly timeless! This time in Suzhou, I was once again amazed and collected several fantastic photo spots that I think are absolutely amazing to share with you all!
P1 Bridge near Shantang Street Subway Station
Right after exiting Shantang Street subway station, you can spot this bridge, which epitomizes the charm of Suzhou.
- *Friendly提示:Shantang Street, especially near the subway entrance, can get incredibly crowded! This is particularly noticeable during weekends or holidays. To capture beautiful photos, either set out in the early morning or be prepared to wait patiently for those rare moments with fewer people around.
P2 Bridge at the junction of Shilin Temple Lane and Pingjiang Road
This location is equally classic! Traditional bridges, flowing water, ancient houses: just like the poems describe.
- Note: Pingjiang Road is bustling with tourists, similar to Shantang Street. Pushing through the crowd is typical. To take photos, head deeper into the alleyway or during cooler times like early morning or evening.*
P3 The March Grocery Store
A rather fun little store where cute items can be found. When you're tired of walking, you might as well drop by and hunt for some lovely knickknacks.
P4 Li Baike—River-view Banquet Crabs and Yellow Crab Meat Noodles
If you wish to taste authentic Su-style yellow crab noodles and enjoy scenic views along the river, consider this place.
- Tip: River-front restaurants with nice scenery tend to have their prime spots filled quickly. Better call ahead to check availability or avoid going for nothing or a long wait.*
P5 Gusu River-view Banquet—Suzhou-style Restaurant by the Shantang River
Here's where you can experience genuine Suzhou cuisine. As indicated by its name, it resides by the Shantang River, in a pleasant setting.
- Advice: Just like the restaurant above, if you opt to dine during peak hours with plans to secure good seats, be sure to make reservations beforehand.*
P6 Outside Xin Zhensheng's Doors (a chain restaurant famous for pan-fried buns)
Xin Zhensheng is a renowned local chain restaurant, specializing in Suzhou crispy-bottomed pork baozi. The area outside has a classic old-town vibe too, making it convenient to grab a photo while enjoying your meal.
P7 The Midsection and Behind Pingjiang Road
Pingjiang Road is quite lengthy. Compared to the busier areas at both ends, this location tends to have fewer tourists and offers a more relaxed ambience, where you can truly immerse yourself in the serene lifestyle.
P8 Jelly River near Suzhou Museum
This 'Jelly River' isn't one you can eat, though! Instead, it's a water body at the entrance of Suzhou Museum, notable for its crystal clear reflections on tranquil surfaces, earning this playful nickname.
- Photography advice: Opt for sunny days with ample light for improved photo outcomes!*
P9 Sunset viewing at the Horizontal Mountain Island
With ample time and fondness for sunsets, the Horizontal Mountain Island is sure to bewilder with the scenery of the setting sun over the lake, almost breath-taking.
- Travel note: Reaching the Horizontal Mountain Island may require boat or other transportation means. Make sure to research the route and sunset times beforehand to not miss the best views.*

Shenzhen Bay Mangrove Seagulls: Heads Up & Steer Clear of *This* Character!Hello, fellow travelers! I would like to share my experience of watching seagulls at Shenzhen Bay Mangrove Ecological Park (that's the scenic park by the sea in Shenzhen with many mangrove trees and migratory birds), and also give you some reminders at the same time.
-
When I arrived there in the afternoon, the seagull viewing stand was so crowded that it reminded me of sardine cans.
- Tip: After about 5 PM, the crowd thinned out, leaving plenty of good spots in the front. If you'd like a peaceful view or take photos, you might want to consider arriving during this time.
-
Just as the crowd started to disperse and the space before me became less crowded, something unpleasant happened:
- There was a middle-aged man right behind me (I couldn't see his face clearly, but he appeared to have single eyelids), who kept rubbing his body or bag into my backside, just lightly brushing up against me.
- At first, I thought it was just accidental due to the crowds so I moved slightly away.
- But shortly after that, he moved closer once again. This back-and-forth happened for about two to three times before I realised something wasn't quite right.
- (It dawned upon me only later that I should've been more alert at the time since there were no longer people around!)
- I felt a bit uncomfortable about this and decided to leave quickly.
- A big NO REGRETS: In hindsight, I truly wish I had made a big fuss immediately!
Once I left, I then followed the man discreetly from behind.
- He turned around once and saw me watching him, and then turned towards the other end of the viewing platform where he pretended to be taking a photo.
- Observing me still, he left the platform via a little path and came around the other side before eventually leaving.
- My guess: I think he must have had some ulterior motives. If he came for the seagulls, how could he just walk off and look so suspicious when he got caught?
-
Important Reminder
- Be aware of your personal boundaries: Always be cautious in crowded areas, especially if someone seems to be coming too close.
- Trust your instincts: Trust your gut, should you feel uncomfortable or uneasy. Don't hesitate to get out of an uncomfortable situation if you need to.
- Don’t be afraid to speak up: Speak up loudly, if possible and safe, to stop such inappropriate behaviour, seeking help from bystanders if necessary. Silence can be seen as consent, giving them more confidence to continue their misconduct.
- Observe carefully: Make sure to observe their behavior from a safe distance if you suspect malicious intent, which in turn can help you judge the situation and make decisions.
I hope everyone enjoys their outdoor journeys, but remember to stay vigilant and protect yourself!

Guangzhou Getaway? Wanna Hear It From a Local?Hi there! How many days would you recommend for a trip to Guangzhou? I'm not looking for a super rushed, 'special forces' style itinerary.
-
Guangzhou Temple Alert: Don't Let Your Piety Pay for Their Profits! There's a small temple in Xiguan Alley that's still quite tranquil for now. You'll see a few local folks sitting on the stone benches out front, just chatting. Please don't post about it on Xiaohongshu (XHS); once these places get popular there, they slowly become commercialized.
-
Guangzhou? Yeah, I'm Good. Won't Be Back.I'm an intern too. Right after entering the workforce, I got a taste of how malicious people can be. Even though I'd done part-time jobs and summer factory work before, I'd never felt such despair as I did in that moment [Tearing up emoji]. I want to leave Guangzhou now, but my lease isn't up yet, and I need to sublet my apartment first. So now I'm just holed up in my rental, anxious every day, trying to find someone to take over the lease. I came to Guangzhou full of hope, and now it looks like I'll be leaving completely dejected.
-
Guangzhou: My Big Disappointment 😞Yeah, even locals can easily take a wrong turn if they're not familiar with the route.

The World's Freakin' Big. So I Had a Look. In China.I'm visiting Beijing right now, and I'm most impressed by how polite people are – they give up their seats to children on the subway, which I really appreciate. However, I'm accustomed to the slow, easy-going life in Quanzhou. While Quanzhou might not have many 'major' attractions, the thought of a high-intensity daily commute in Beijing, rushing for subways for over two hours, makes me think I'd probably have a meltdown. I guess I'll just stick to being a 'happy little slacker' and visit Beijing as a tourist now and then.

Beijing Day 3: Officially Cooked. SOS!It's exhausting, so exhausting, and it's packed with people too.
