Kinmen's Famous Hotspot! Nailed It! Will DEFINITELY Be Back!
-
Oh my gosh! I rode my bike for a long time all the way to Kinmen (an island very close to mainland China), only to see this?!
-
This is such a massive letdown! My mood immediately tanked.
-
I really need to voice concerns about Xiaohongshu (a super popular social app in China, a blend of Instagram and Pinterest): Sometimes its recommendations are just not reliable!
- Can a random spot be hyped up as "must-go" destinations just like that? (By "card-tapping", it means taking photos at a destination as proof and posting it on social media.)
- It feels like they don't care much about us tourists' experience!
-
Here's a word of caution for my friends who are planning to visit Kinmen, especially foreign friends:
- CAUTION, CAUTION, CAUTION!
- Be mindful of the seemingly perfect "must-go spots" on social media; give them extra scrutiny because these may often be overblown and exaggerated.
- The gap between the actual photos and reality can be quite significant, as some places depicted can sometimes be very ordinary in real life.
- How to avoid disappointment:
- Before going somewhere, take a careful look and read other people's reviews to get a more comprehensive sense. Don't just look at those heavily edited and filtered beautiful pictures.
- If a place requires considerable effort to reach, such as by cycling for a long time or walking long distances, ensure that it is truly worth your time and energy. Avoid my mistake: not checking properly and feeling extremely disappointed!
- CAUTION, CAUTION, CAUTION!
-
-
This is hilarious. Even locals don't get why it's so popular.
-
So, where do you guys usually hang out?
-
Riding that e-bike was mind-numbing. Seriously, who came up with this attraction?
-
Hahahahahaha, it's SO true!!
-
It's just a small town, but I loved the feeling of cruising around on a little e-scooter, enjoying the sea views. It's so relaxing to just wander at your own pace and see where the road takes you.
-
Wow! This spot is gorgeous!
-
We rode for half a day, the wind was howling, and it was overcast and rainy for days. We were totally drained by the time we arrived.
-
Hahahahahaha, you look even more wrecked than I did!
-
So, is Kinmen worth visiting? Thinking of going there for summer vacation.
-
The accommodation was terrible. A 500 yuan hotel there isn't even as good as a 100-something yuan one in a small mainland county town.
-
Is Kinmen open for everyone to visit now?
-
Nope, only those with Fujian household registration can.
-
A soldier.
-
Had to ride for too long, my butt couldn't take it, so I gave up.
-
We rode to Jinhu.
-
Ahhhh, these kinds of downhill slopes are so beautiful! Gives off such Japanese drama vibes
-
Hahaha, we got tricked too! We went there braving the strong winds.
-
We rode down a small path, with fields and weeds all around.
