Taiwan Late April: Still Safe to Visit With the Current... Uh... *Situation*?
-
You all seem to get easily influenced by news. Taiwanese people are generally quite unfazed, and that includes earthquakes. I remember one night when there were multiple quakes. I was right near the epicenter, and the shaking was pretty intense, which freaked me out a bit. But everyone else in the restaurant just carried on chatting and eating, totally calm. It made me feel like I was overreacting.

Could I ask what the weather and temperature are usually like around the end of April, based on previous years? Wondering if I should pack long pants and short sleeves, shorts and short sleeves, or long pants and long sleeves.
-
There are earthquakes. Don't come.
-
What Taiwanese people dread most are the traffic jams during long holidays. Everywhere you go to eat, drink, and have fun is packed with people.

I'm arriving in Taiwan on the 1st, and it's totally safe! Currently in Taichung.
-
Looking forward to your update.
-
No one can tell you when an earthquake will happen.
-
I'm not really worried about earthquakes, to be honest.
-
People here are super chill. I was hiking on an Alishan trail when an earthquake alert suddenly went off. Everyone just carried on walking, haha. I asked them, and they said if the shaking isn't strong, they usually just stay put. They only run out if it's really noticeable.
-
So, have earthquakes been really frequent lately?
-
Oh, definitely don't go! That way, it'll be less crowded when I visit.
-
I'm going the day after tomorrow, hahaha! A bit worried myself, tbh.
-
Feels like it shouldn't be a huge issue, right? Awaiting your update.
-
It's super safe, you're very welcome! Just try to avoid the rain, as it's been raining quite a bit lately.
-
Earthquakes have been a bit more frequent lately, so please stay safe.

Okay, thanks.
