    Wow, Guangzhou! 😦😦😦

    • Honestly! I suggest people don't easily come to Guangzhou. I, on the contrary, jokingly said that I would never come here again!
    • I initially thought Guangzhou was a paradise for eating, playing, and shopping.
    • But what happened? During this trip, I somehow managed to lose around 4 kilograms! I originally planned to gain some weight here, doing thick research in finding delicious dishes. However, reality was different:
      • To run from one famous food shop to another, I walked about 30,000 steps every day. Just after finishing at one store, I ended up being hungry again when reaching the next restaurant! 😍
      • That's more physical exercise than my usual half-day workout at the gym!

So, Guangzhou, the city that feeds me well yet allows me to lose weight unintentionally... I have to thank you jokingly again, and my plan of gaining some weight has definitely been foiled.

For my friends who plan to visit Guangzhou, here are some little experiences (also my "bitter lessons"):

    • A warning: Make sure you save enough energy!

      • Guangzhou is truly big, and many popular spots might be quite far apart. Be ready to walk until your legs fall off, as I did – walking till everything I ate was digested and then feeling hungry again!
      • How to cope with it: You can consider using the convenient subway system or doing route planning in advance to group nearby scenic spots and restaurants together.
    • Small tips for a few places:

      • Sandian Island:
        • Background: It used to be where foreign merchants lived and worked, leading to many beautiful European-style heritage buildings. Perfect for taking photos.
        • Recommendation: Before going there, do a bit of research so as to know the best angles and buildings for taking photos.
      • Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street:
        • Background: Well known for being one of the oldest commercial pedestrian streets in Guangzhou. There are shops and street food everywhere.
        • My experience: It was not crowded when I was there; I am not sure if it is always like this. It's worth a visit to feel the commercial atmosphere of locals.
      • Shisanhang:
        • Background: Mainly selling clothes and accessories in bulk, it's huge with a lot of stylish clothing.
        • Tips for visitors: Although it is a wholesale market, many shops accept retail, meaning that you can buy individual items. If you enjoy browsing through clothes and don’t mind a bit of crowded and noisy environment, it is a perfect place for you.

In conclusion, Guangzhou is a place filled with surprises, so plan your visit wisely. Have fun exploring, enjoying food and uncovering your own hidden gems!

It was way too much walking! My husband and I couldn't handle it anymore, so we ended up getting foot massages.

You're welcome to never visit Guangzhou again, 'laosong' (Cantonese slang for mainlander, often derogatory).

You should try Beijing; there's even more walking there!

Haha, that 'criticize first, then praise' technique was brilliant! The first clickbait title I actually liked. Feel free to visit again!

So, is that why there are no overweight people in Guangzhou?

You only hit up the influencer-popular spots and rushed around everywhere. No wonder you slimmed down!

Are all those shared bikes you see everywhere just for decoration?
