Shanghai's Wukang Mansion: Peak Overrated. Seriously, Just Don't.
-
This place is mainly popular with people from out of town.
-
I was specifically looking for a comment like this from a Shanghai local. It wouldn't feel right if I couldn't find one.
-
This is where people live, it's not a tourist attraction!
-
Exactly! My friend lives there and they barely dare to open their windows anymore because of all the people.
-
You can find thousands of similar, ordinary buildings on European streets. I've never seen foreigners flocking to the Wukang Mansion to take photos and 'check in'.
-
I'm not sure when it got hyped up into an internet-famous attraction; it never used to draw crowds like this.
-
I'm from Shanghai, and I haven't been there in over ten years.
-
It used to be a diving platform.
-
The secret sauce for online traffic: 'what to avoid,' 'de-hyping/myth-busting,' 'negative reviews'...
-
And another clickbait classic: 'Never coming back!'
-
You probably just didn't pick a peak time, so of course, there weren't many people.
-
You must have gone in the middle of the night, right?
-
Go in the morning, there's hardly anyone around.
-
Is it very crowded there now?
-
It's not too bad.
-
Were the people edited out of the photo, or have there just been fewer visitors to Shanghai lately?
-
It was never meant to be a tourist spot!
-
It's become incredibly crowded again recently.
-
Excuse me, may I ask where this is?
