Alright, let me enlighten you on this matter, especially for any foreign friends reading!
- I planned to head to Hangzhou during a less crowded day, thinking it would help me "avoid the peak" – essentially, avoiding rush hours to have a quieter experience.
- However, the outcome was far from what I imagined! Huh! It seemed as if all of China had the same idea as I did; wherever I went, there were people everywhere. It was shoulder-to-shoulder, elbow-to-elbow chaos!
- Upon arriving at Hangzhou East Station (let me clarify, it's one massive train station in Hangzhou where numerous high-speed trains stop), the scene became more chaotic.
- The station staff nearly lost their voices as they held megaphones and directed: "Ladies and gentlemen coming up the escalators, please head toward the entry point on the south side! Due to the excessive number of people on the eastern entry port, it's quite congested!"
- Cough cough, pay attention now! This is key!
- Warning! Warning! If you are also in such a large Chinese station (especially when it already appears crowded), be sure to listen to the directions provided by the staff or even better, scout ahead yourself to find a less crowded entryway.
- How can you avoid trouble? Many large stations have multiple entrances. Don't obstinately huddle with the crowd at one door. By taking an extra couple of steps, you could save yourself from a bottleneck that may keep you waiting unnecessarily just to enter the station.
- I'm puzzled if Hangzhou is usually like this, packed like sardines. Perhaps everyone had similarly planned to "avoid the peak", but ended up "encountering the peak"? Or maybe there was some famous event going on today, like a star concert, of which I wasn’t aware?

It seems like it's because of the Mayday concert. I'm also visiting Hangzhou as a tourist, and I've noticed the city is incredibly crowded these days.

It's the Mayday 5525 concert in Hangzhou, and today is a really special day, so it's definitely going to be packed.
