Well, let me tell you about West Lake!

• You know those photos of it online? They’re so beautiful and otherworldly! The West Lake in Hangzhou is renowned as one of the most famous lakes in China, and poets and painters from ancient times adored it.

• But when I went enthusiastically, it was like the Rain God joined me with an extra package! It rained non-stop all day long.

• Everything was hazy, as if they had applied ten extra levels of skin smoothing. Honestly, I didn’t see much beauty personally, especially on a rainy day. :((((

• Missing out on West Lake’s shimmering and radiant beauty under sunny skies would indeed be regrettable.

• Here's the important bit for those considering going:

  • Weather, weather, weather! I can't emphasize this enough, three times if needed!
  • If you want to see amazing scenery similar to what we see in pictures on the internet, make sure you choose a bright sunny day. Otherwise, the cloudy or misty conditions might make you feel like “is that all?”.
