Shanghai Disneyland: What is WRONG with some people?!
-
Wow, the experiences at Disney are so diverse! I am here to help translate this "complain show" into a more "international" style, and remind my friends who plan to visit:
Let me share the unpleasant experience I had at Shanghai Disneyland yesterday:
- At that time, there was only an hour left before closing. I had just completed my fourth ride on the "TRON Lightcycle Power Run" (it's a super cool motorcycle roller coaster!) and dashed over to the neighbouring "Jet Packs".
- I was patiently queuing up without doing anything to bother anyone, but there was a woman next to me who kept giving me side-long glances, which felt a bit awkward. I ignored this though.
- Coincidentally, both of us were solo visitors, so a staff member paired us up for the same "Jet Pack" (with two seats).
- There is a button at the front of this unit, if you keep pressing it continuously, it will make your seat rise higher.
- She told me right away, “I’m kind of afraid of height, please don't raise the seat.”
- I thought: this part of the ride is designed to experience height, why should I listen to your demand? So I deliberately kept pressing it until I reached the peak of its trajectory.
- When we went down from "Jet Packs", which experienced strong winds, she appeared to be saying something like "Are you crazy?"(“你有什么问题吧?”)
- I asked her “What did you just say?”
- She adopted an impatient face and said with a long tune “Oh… how excellent you are..”
- She continued in a sarcastic tone (that sounded more like criticism but was not sincere), “Just keep pressing the button as much as you want! It would be better if someone else comes up right after this!” Then she stomped off.
- Can you believe this? Disney is not her own home. Why should I obey her demands?
- Important reminder!
- If you are afraid of height, please carefully choose your rides! For example, one of the joys of Jet Packs ride is controlling the rise by yourself. If you are afraid of heights, perhaps this attraction is not suitable for you.
- Do not expect a stranger to abandon their own fun in order to cater to your fear. That control button was designed for people to use, and others also have the right to experience the full attraction.
- My recommendation: If you really have an aversion to heights but still wish to try it, you may be able to talk nicely with the person who shares your cabin, but they do not have any obligation to agree. Or you could simply avoid this attraction.
- Important reminder!
- Ahhh... You can always bump into unpleasant people wherever you go. May everyone enjoy the "world’s happiest place!"
-
You encounter all sorts of people at Disney. Yesterday, when I was entering the park, some people let their kids run ahead and then followed, basically cutting the line sneakily. During the parade, others were shouting like crazy at Chip 'n' Dale. It was wild. There's more I can't recall right now, but trust me, these weren't isolated incidents.
-
What do you mean by 'a kid ran ahead of you, and they sneakily cut the line'?
-
She gave you a heads-up, but you just kept pressing the button more enthusiastically. Honestly, what did you expect? Of course, she'd be upset. You have the freedom to raise your seat, and she has the freedom not to. If you weren't happy, you could have asked to switch seats earlier. Nobody has to put up with anyone else; we're all just strangers here.
-
No way, the others were a family. Changing seats would have split them up. Besides, that's just how the ride experience is meant to be, and it's definitely not suitable for people afraid of heights. She was also very rude to me about it.
-
Once, a woman cut in line. I told her, 'Please don't cut the line, thank you.' She just replied, 'Huh? Was I cutting in line?'
-
While watching the parade, a woman kept poking me in the head with her phone (non-stop). My friend told her, 'Please don't push.' She snapped back, 'Did I push you? Which eye saw me push you?' (I was f***ing speechless). I said, 'Your phone was poking my head.' She retorted, 'So, what exactly happened to you from the 'pushing'? Want to go to the first-aid station?' How can someone be so shameless? Not even an apology, just pure sarcasm.
-
So why didn't you just refuse her request directly? You could have asked a staff member to help you switch seats, couldn't you? She probably thought you had agreed, but then you just kept pressing the button.
-
You can't just switch seats; they were a family, and you can't split them up. Plus, she was so entitled and rude. We hadn't agreed on anything. And anyway, that's how the ride is designed; it's really not for people who are afraid of heights.
-
People with a fear of heights really shouldn't be on these kinds of rides in the first place.
-
Exactly! And she even started cursing.
-
Now even the Jet Packs ride makes you share seats? Disney, your service is really going downhill.
-
Sharing seats isn't the issue, but people like that... I'm just speechless.
-
You could rephrase it as: 'Shanghai Disneyland, why do you have a seat-sharing policy?'
-
I think this seat-sharing can be a good way to make friends; I'm fine with it. What I can't stand are these rude, ill-mannered people.
-
While queuing for a character interaction, a mother and daughter, right after getting their pass, just swooped in and took my spot. I was just hanging up my bag, and it was right by a heater. I thought to myself, 'You're cold, but so am I!' So I said, 'Excuse me, I was standing here, could you please move?' The mother kept insisting, 'We've been standing here the whole time.' But many people around me, both in front and behind, remembered me and had even chatted with me, and they all confirmed I was there. The mother just kept denying it, saying they were the ones standing there. I even tried to give her an out, asking if she might be mistaken. But she was still stubborn, claiming she was right behind the person in front of me. It wasn't until much later that someone else pointed out they had actually been further back. As the mother walked back, she muttered, 'Oh well, we were just standing here anyway.' It was so ridiculous it made me laugh.
-
Do people cut in line for the rides?
-
Oh, was it that serious?
-
Suddenly, I'm too scared to go to Disneyland anymore.
