Excuse me, roughly how long does it take to complete this route? We're planning to visit Lingyin Temple in the morning and West Lake in the afternoon.

In that case, you're looking at at least 30,000 steps. Half a day should be roughly enough time to cover it.

If I only have the morning, where should I get a taxi to? I'm planning to set out at 5 AM.

Maybe just take a stroll around the Hubin (Lakeside) area.

Qingzhiwu, Manjuelong... guesthouses (B&Bs) are everywhere in those areas.

Haha, what a coincidence! I took this exact route today. Started at 6:00 AM and I'm at Leifeng Pagoda now. The whole journey has been so refreshing and uplifting.

Take a taxi to Yu Qian Shrine, then stroll along the river by Wugui Pond towards Yuhu Bay. It's the perfect condensed, refreshing nature tour, very pleasant and even suitable for seniors.

Do you recommend walking from north to south? I'm staying near the East Railway Station, and starting from Taiziwan (Prince Bay Park) is a bit far. (Also, any suggestions on how to get there from the East Station? It might be too early for the subway. Can I cycle to Beishan Street?)

Take a taxi to the Children's Palace, or take the subway to Fengqi Road Station.
