    Guangzhou: NGL, It's Kinda Boring 😰 1

Alright, what's so difficult about that! Watch this:

    • Today, as I wandered around these scenic spots in Guangzhou, I felt like a lost fly, turning east and west without grasping anything.
    • Is it because I didn't do enough research and planning before leaving home? #VagueDayInGuangzhou #ScenicSpotFail (Maybe?)

To be honest, Guangzhou is quite boring. I'm a local, and I even head to Foshan for fun these days.

Foshan doesn't have much to offer either.

It's true, it can be pretty dull. I usually recommend Chimelong, Canton Tower, Yongqing Fang, Lizhiwan, and Huangpu Ancient Port. Besides Chimelong, Guangzhou doesn't really have major tourist attractions. It's more suited for city walks, just strolling around and grabbing some food.

I'd add Shamian Island to that list too.

Honestly, there really isn't much to do. I've lived in Guangzhou for over a decade, and I feel like the most fun place here is my own home.

My mom says Chimelong is the most fun.

The main reason to go to Guangzhou is definitely for the food!

I've eaten there, and honestly, it was just average, not particularly amazing. Maybe I just have very picky taste buds.

I've lived in Guangzhou for over 20 years, and I can't definitively say if it's 'fun.' If you find it enjoyable, it means you're looking at the world with an open heart. If you don't, you're just treating it as another place to tick off a list. When you enter an unfamiliar city, nothing might seem appealing at first. But as you explore its streets and alleys and slowly get to know it, the interesting aspects will naturally reveal themselves. They say the most beautiful scenery in Taiwan is its people; in Guangzhou, it might not necessarily be the people, but it's undoubtedly the Cantonese language, the cuisine, and the service.

I agree! 👍 It's all about your perspective ('境由心造' - your surroundings are a creation of your mind). I love the climate here, the Cantonese songs, and as someone from the Northwest who doesn't eat spicy food, I absolutely adore the local cuisine. Take it slow, savor the details, and every scene is worth photographing.

It's the 'Flower City' (Huacheng), so naturally, you go to see the flowers!

I've done my own research. Would it be suitable for a family trip with kids tomorrow?

That's a perfect plan, those are indeed the most beautiful spots! And then you can head over to Party Pier for a drink and to enjoy the view (and maybe spot some beauties)!

I think Guangzhou is great fun! As someone from the north, I love its warm winters, the abundance of flowers and trees, and the delicious food. The city center is packed with large shopping malls, making it very convenient for dining, drinking, and entertainment. There are so many cultural sites to see. I'm not personally a fan of amusement parks like Chimelong. Last time I was here, I visited the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, Shamian Island, Sun Yat-sen's Generalissimo Mansion, Whampoa Military Academy, and the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King. This trip, I've been to the South China Botanical Garden, Yuyin Garden, Dafo Temple, Guangzhou Museum of Modern History, and the Guangdong Museum. There are still many more places to explore, like the Peasant Movement Institute, and I haven't even made it to Keyuan Garden or Humen in Dongguan yet. If you're interested in modern history, there's a wealth of things to discover here.

You're not wrong; even Guangzhou locals struggle to recommend fun places here. After visiting Beijing, I realized there's so much more to do there.
