Suzhou's Great. PSYCH! Never Coming Back.
-
Oh my goodness, the impression I get from the city center is simply — chaotic!
- The electric scooters and motorcycles running all over the place, they don't seem to care about traffic lights at all.
- Therefore, when we cross the road even with traffic lights, we have to be extra cautious ourselves, looking left and right, otherwise, it could indeed be dangerous.
Heads-up!
- Even if the traffic light turns green, you must look around carefully as electric vehicles might suddenly emerge. Safety first!
In my honest opinion, you’d better choose the metro when exploring the city!
- As for hailing a taxi? Forget about it; the congestion will drive you insane! Taking a metro is definitely much faster than hailing a car.
- Since many of the roads here are quite narrow and the traffic lights are in abundance, taking a taxi is not only slow but also may cost you plenty.
-
The traffic is terrible, and electric bikes just dart around recklessly, not yielding to anyone. It was a really bad experience.
-
And they just keep honking non-stop.
-
Went yesterday and came back today. It was packed with people everywhere, and the traffic was a nightmare. I'm definitely not going back.
-
Have to agree with this
, the experience was genuinely awful.

Every time I try to take a taxi, the driver gets stuck in traffic for ages. And walking to the subway station feels endless, like my legs are about to break. I'm just exhausted.
-
The traffic is terrifying. When crossing the road, I saw electric bikes waiting at red lights deliberately bump into the vehicle in front multiple times, just to start an argument. It seemed like they had some psychological issues – so malicious.

A friend of mine visited Suzhou and, while in a taxi, complained to the driver about how chaotic the management was everywhere. The driver actually replied, 'Chaos is good; the more chaotic it is, the more money there is to be made.' It was a real eye-opener.
-
It's a complete mess.
-
All drivers seem to love honking, usually three sharp beeps in a row. And with electric scooters, you hear all sorts of different honks every minute. Right outside the high-speed rail station, on the main road, no one pays attention to red lights; they just go whenever they want. It makes even the sightseeing feel boring. Plus, if you try to hail a ride with an app, drivers will often cancel if they don't like the trip. The traffic is utter chaos.
-
The shaking almost sent me flying.

I can't speak for everything else, but at the entrance to Tiger Hill, there are so many scammers selling smoked plums. If you don't buy, they'll chase you down and yell at you. The tricycle drivers and the guys offering photoshoots are incredibly persistent; even if you say no, they'll follow you and keep talking endlessly. Street vendors sell silk scarves for 10 yuan, but if you take a moment to pick a color, they'll scold you. Liquor stores make you buy at least half a kilo, and if you ask for a smaller bottle, they just sneer. Who can understand these infuriating local 'customs'? (lol) I came all the way from Northeast China, and this completely shattered my dream of Jiangnan.
