Taiwan's Got Me HEATED! Can Anyone Talk Me Off The Ledge?!
-
Oh my God, I took a taxi today, and the driver actually told me never to travel to Mainland China! He said "You'll disappear if you go there!!!"
This is unbelievable! What century are people still having this kind of thought?! I'm still so angry after this incident!
(By the way, "Mainland China" refers to the territory of China excluding Taiwan Province, Hong Kong, and Macau, which are special administrative regions. The driver's claim, well, sounded exaggerated and absurd.)
Who can comfort me?!
I mean, is there anyone here from Taiwan? Are there really that many people here having such beliefs? I am really curious about where these beliefs come from and how they shaped everyone’s view of Mainland China. -
You really shouldn't have brought up traveling there, you know how things are. With the '96' and the rest of them... The normal, friendly folks are all on Xiaohongshu.
-
It's the 'swordfish people'.
-
Don't even bother arguing or trying to refute him. Just smile and say something like, 'Baodao Optical is pretty good, huh? Do they have that in Taiwan? Maybe you should suggest he check it out.'
-
Haha, just treat it as a joke and let it go. Don't get angry; it's not worth upsetting yourself over.
-
Mmhmm, I definitely won't get that worked up about it
.
-
Just for these passion fruit pork ribs, it'd be worth you disappearing for them!
-
Where is this delicious food from?
-
You find similar kinds of people everywhere, really.
-
There's nothing to really get angry about.
-
Haha, alright, I'm not mad anymore.
-
It's all propaganda. There's no need for ordinary people to get angry with each other over it.
-
It looks like quite a few people believe it.
-
There's no need to get yourself upset. If you're unhappy, just call them out. Constantly bottling it up and stewing internally isn't good for you.
-
It's actually better if people like that don't go. You should breathe a sigh of relief, don't be angry~
