Tainan: So Freaking Boring! UGH!
-
Hello everyone! The itinerary for my 6-night trip to Taiwan is as follows: I spent the first three nights in Tainan and then proceeded to Taipei for the remaining three.
So far, I have been in Tainan for three days:
- On the first day, I arrived from Taipei with the dust still settling on me and went to explore the Garden Night Market at night.
- (For my foreign friends: Night markets are a well-known culture in Taiwan. They are bustling venues filled with various small eateries and fun shops offering many things to do and watch.)
- The second day: that was yesterday!
- A poster stated that the landscape of Jiannan Island (Qíjīn Dǎo) is impressive.
- Therefore, I got up early at 6:30 in the morning and caught a vehicle at 8:30 am.
- However, when I arrived there, it felt like my grandma's hometown in a way, and the weather was not supportive either. The so-called "rainbow houses" were simply difficult to describe.
- At night, I visited the Sanfeng Temple (Sānfèng Gōng).
️ Take note!
️
- Thus, following the next day (today), started experiencing a runny nose and nasal congestion; apparently, I have caught a cold. ouch!
- Travel tip: Remember to stay warm during the trip, especially if you're switching between various places throughout a single day and where the weather can be harsh. You don't want to play without consequences like I did.
- On the third day: right now!
- I went to the coffee house named "Xianqing" during morning time and tried the same spaghetti as seen in the Taiwanese TV series "Can't Reach You."
- (FYI: "Can't Reach You" is a popular Taiwanese series; fans who love the show usually try to find and visit similar shooting spots.)
- In reality, I didn't know where to go next, so I went to my hotel to enjoy some milk tea and just chillax. Waaaaah!
- Tomorrow, I will leave early morning to Taipei!

So, dear friends, any suggestions about places to eat and shop in Taipei? #Taiwan #Tainan

Have you left Tainan already? I could show you around.
-
I left today. Thanks!
-
The food was delicious!
-
Wow, thank you so much! Is this Tainan or Taipei?
-
It feels like you didn't do enough research beforehand; Tainan has so many charming little shops and alleys worth exploring. Also, the Cijin (Qijin) you mentioned is actually in Kaohsiung.
-
I checked Xiaohongshu but couldn't find much, and the friends I know are mostly familiar with Taipei.
-
Didn't you take a boat trip at Sicao (Green Tunnel)?
-
This is gorgeous!
-
Since it's so late, there isn't much else to do. You could head over to Haian Road for some food and drinks, and then take a stroll down Shennong Street to see the lovely old houses and creative handcrafted goods.
-
Yeah, I really should have posted to ask for suggestions earlier.
-
Are there any must-eat, must-buy, or must-visit spots in Taipei?
-
The zoo.
-
Tainan definitely has its fun side, but the city's overall layout and transportation aren't very tourist-friendly.
-
This is delicious.
-
What's this?

The Sicao Green Tunnel, Chimei Museum, watching the sunset at Yuguang Island, and exploring the creative shops and historical sites on Shennong Street – these are all definitely worth visiting!
