Oh my, I'm a bit perplexed by some people's logic. People visit Guangzhou as a hot travel destination, have a bad time, and then claim that the city shouldn't pursue tourism for profit? What kind of logic is this?

Think of it like visiting an employee cafeteria within a company (a place not primarily open to the public), only to complain about the food not being to your taste, and then blaming the cafeteria for letting you in to buy food. This just doesn't make sense!

Guangzhou, on the other hand, is first and foremost a colossal metropolis in South China, known for its thriving commerce and bustling atmosphere. Many people come here for business and work, or simply immerse themselves in its unique "Cantonese" culture, particularly in terms of cuisine. Guangzhou may lack allure compared to tourism-focused destinations.

Sometimes the arguments made are truly bizarre, let me illustrate that for everyone.

Travel Tip, Especially for First-Time Visitors in Guangzhou:

    • Discovering Guangzhou's Charm:

      • Paradise for Food Enthusiasts: Guangzhou is renowned for eating ("Eat in Guangzhou"), with dim sum, Cantonese cuisine, and various street foods being a true delicacy! Savor this and you will strike the jackpot.

      • Authentic Local Life: Guangzhou might not be the typical photogenic 'popular' city. The charm lies in the everyday scenes along with its down-to-earth atmosphere. If you wish to experience this, stay clear from tourist traps.

      • Not Primarily Scenic Tourism Destination: If scenic beauty like Guilin's rivers and mountains or Yunnan's snow-capped mountains appeal to you, then Guangzhou may not be your preference.

    • ❗ Watch Out! Tips to Avoid Common Pitfalls:

      • Avoid Blind Following of 'Popular' Recommendations: Some places may attract attention but provide subpar experiences. Rely more on local recommendations and explore less known but interesting old districts.

      • Off-Peak Travel is Key: Any major travel destination becomes swarming with tourists during holidays. If possible, avoid these high seasons for much better experiences.

      • Manage Your Expectations: Do not stereotype Guangzhou as solely a collection of tourist attractions. It’s a vibrant, modern metropolis with its own distinct personality.

      • Follow the 'Local Tour Guides': Having a local friend show you around is ideal! They’ll guide you to where delicious yet reasonably priced meals are served or fun spots without any hidden expenses.

In conclusion, research before traveling and knowing what you are getting into will prevent disappointment. Don’t expect an active commercial city to turn into your idyllic utopia in your imagination.
