I'm serious, guys. Can we stop making fun of Shanghai all the time? After wandering around a bit, I realized that not every city is suitable for our kind of "urban exploration" (City Walk) enthusiasts.

    For example:

    • In Shenzhen:

      • The roads seem narrow and somewhat dirty. 😝
      • Alert, folks! Take extra precautions when walking on Shenzhen sidewalks!
        • Issues: Bicycles and electric bikes (the small motorcycles) seem to recklessly dart around as though the sidewalks are their domain. Pedestrians need to make way for them instead.
        • Recommendation: Be vigilant while walking, especially at crossings or near store entrances, because those cycling people could suddenly appear out of nowhere.
      • And I'm not sure if it's my imagination or not, some folks passing by seem to have an odor... ugh, hard to explain. 😝 Tired of it, tired of it, tired of it too much! 😝😝😝
    • Coming back to Shanghai to enjoy the autumn feels so much better!

      • Every road in Shanghai has its own tale and ambience, perfect for leisurely exploration.
      • As for traffic, cars stay on the roads, while bicycles and electric bikes are supposed to be relegated to their specifically designated non-mechanized vehicle lanes, leaving us pedestrians to walk comfortably on the sidewalks.
        • Of course, no city is totally free of people violating traffic rules and riding recklessly, but it's definitely better than in Shenzhen!
      • Indeed, it is only when one leaves Shanghai that one really misses its virtues.
    • And the cool wind blowing through the air in Shanghai during autumn is fragrant and pleasant!

Mom, when can I return to my Shanghai home? Miss home so much...

Totally agree. I've been giving it some serious thought lately about where in Shenzhen is good for a city walk, and honestly, apart from shopping malls, there isn't much else.

That's typical of cities lacking deep cultural roots.

Tell me about it! There are so many smokers in Luohu, it's almost impossible to walk through.

As a Shenzhen local, I agree. The city's road planning is like a pile of dogsh*t.
