I've been in Shenzhen for seven years now, and lately I feel that the city has become somewhat messy.

A short while ago, a girl had an unpleasant incident in the Longhua District (Shenzhen's district, tourists may not be familiar, but it is just another part of the city). From what I heard, the suspect involved hasn't been apprehended yet.

    • Stay Safe! When incidents like this take place, people begin posting discussions on the internet rather quickly, only to find their posts swiftly deleted. The speed of resolving such issues is less than satisfactory.
    • Reminder for tourists: Ladies especially should avoid going out alone at night. If you have to go out, make sure to travel with a friend or stick to well-lit, crowded paths. In case of any emergency, please remember to shout for help and report to the police as soon as possible if necessary (the emergency number in China is 110).

Moreover, over the last few years, I feel that some people's behavior in public places has become increasingly inconsiderate:

    • People spit on the ground (which is unsanitary).
    • Littering everywhere despite having access to nearby trash bins.
    • Smoking where they shouldn't, like bus stops, subways or public indoor spaces, creating foul-smelling environments.

So when you visit Shenzhen, do enjoy the bustling atmosphere, but bear in mind several small details to ensure your safety and prevent unpleasant experiences caused by uncivilized behaviors.

I was originally planning to have eight kids and buy three houses. But with all these vicious incidents happening so often, I've decided: I'm adopting a zero-child policy, not buying property, not spending, and I'm switching from heterosexual to lesbian! I'll only consider changing back to being straight, having those eight kids, and buying houses when the entire social environment improves again!

A motorcycle taxi driver at a subway entrance asked a girl in black if she wanted a ride. She refused. He then verbally sexually harassed her. The girl called him an 'SB' (idiot/asshole). At that, the driver snapped, punched her repeatedly in the head, and knocked her to the ground. With the help of a passerby (a girl in white), she managed to get up. Then, the driver got on his e-bike and started frantically trying to ram into people.

@艾琳Irene @云不改w @我记反了 @梨娅er This might get deleted soon; something (or someone) is taking down this kind of content. There's a photo from the scene showing the girl in white bravely stepping forward, while a group of men nearby just stood there filming and taking pictures.

Oh, it's just a trivial matter, just bear with it and it'll be okay.

I have a few thoughts. First, in the video, the girl was already being silent and avoidant, not directly confrontational. And what did she get in return? Her hair was suddenly grabbed, and she was brutally beaten. Second, yes, the other girls involved earlier in this case weren't harmed, but is staying silent truly an effective way to avoid harm? If everyone stays silent, do you think he would have just stopped there? Absolutely not! This kind of psychologically twisted abuser will always find a way to vent. This time, the trigger was her talking back; what about next time? He'll find an even flimsier excuse as a trigger (like simply not liking the way you look) to encroach upon the space of ordinary people. The notion that silence and retreat offer self-preservation, as some suggest, is merely a fluke, a low-probability event. If everyone had the courage to resist when violated, at least it wouldn't embolden such malicious acts, would it?

Exactly. The girl's resistance just wasn't strong enough. These types bully the weak and fear the strong; if you really stand up to them and cause a scene, they'll chicken out.

Attention Shenzhen residents! Attention Shenzhen residents! There are 'beasts' on the prowl lately. Please be careful when going out, and avoid unnecessary trips outside.

The higher the expectations, the greater the disappointment.

Things have really gone downhill sharply this year.
