Chimelong Paradise Guangzhou: Official Warning - Just AVOID!!! 🛑
-
Sure, here is the translation:
Certainly! Leave it to me and I will make sure that it’s interesting and vivid, and that your foreign friends can understand it clearly and clearly.
• If you have already visited Disney, Hong Kong Ocean Park, Universal Studios, or another famous one like Chimelong Zhanjiang (yes, China has two Chimeling theme parks; the one in Zhuhai is usually praised more), then before coming to this Chimelong Happy World in Guangzhou, it's best not to have too many hopes... (provided you are not interested in those amusement attractions targeting babies.)
• We entered from the South Gate on February 3rd. As soon as we entered, it felt like going back to a very ordinary theme park from two or three decades ago, without any of that 'wow!' sensation Zhuhai Chimelong delivers right at the entrance. To sum up the first impression, it was just meh.
• As everyone's guide said to buy the 'Fast Pass' (can cut lines), we bought tickets right after getting in.
- First one we tried was the Vertical Roller Coaster... Just okay... Although called vertical, the height difference is not big, so the sense of weightlessness when you feel your heart skip a beat isn't strong either… But it is still probably the most worthwhile ride out of all here.
- Second is the Free Fall (that drop tower, Free Fall tower), whoosh straight down, there really is a sense of weightlessness, but indeed it ends quickly… Too fast!
•
Complaint time & important tips!
- Most wanted to complain about the log flume! There's only a small slop, the purpose appears to be splashing water super hard and make sure everyone in the boat gets drenched from head to toe.
So, buy raincoats for 20 yuan, otherwise you will definitely get soaked! But the stimulus of plunging down? None... This must be the most boring log flume I've ever ridden. When I was little, I played one in Science Popularization Center Chongqing (an old, old local park that some Chongqing friends may still remember), which was more exciting! Hong Kong Ocean Park and Zhuhai Chimelong's log flumes were way more fun... Feeling that attractions here in this Happy World are scaled-down and simplified versions.
• Looks kinda old throughout the whole park. Let it be said that theme parks like Hong Kong Disney and Ocean Park have been up and running for years, but still look very new. While some areas at Ocean Park may be a little dated, their big equipment are kept well and colors very bright.
• By just shortly past 11am, we already weren’t quite interested anymore, find a place to sit and eat food, taking a long break… Because we had afternoon 5 o'clock large circus tickets (another performance in the Chimelong resort area, highly recommended by many people), we then wondered: do we rush through the rest of the attractions, go back home (15-minute drive away) for a rest, return around 4.30pm? Or just hang around aimlessly in the park? Ultimately decided on aimless hanging...
• Wandered to one called “Interstellar Battle” project… After watching it, I wanted to ask: what the hell is this?! You'll sit on a long set of seats resembling train carriages, watch a 4D movie on the side. Problem is, your vision can only focus on the small screen in front of you, totally can’t see the images in front and behind… I’m really impressed, no strength left to complain.
• Afterwards, found a place to have food and continued resting… (as in picture 2)… Mainly to burn time, meanwhile take notes on my visit memo.
• Got one Pendulum Ride.
- Looks pretty exciting, actually the feeling of weightlessness is just a little bit.
️ Pay attention: friends who cannot stand rotation and tend to get dizzy, please don't play! I'm someone who could go along with all facial expressions unchanged for Macau Tower Bungee Jump (Macau Tower Bungee Jump) or Ferrari Theme Park's over-speed roller coasters, but turned against the spinning ones. Played it with eyes closed the entire way, still feeling a bit dizzy after it.
• There’s another one called U-shaped skateboard ride (as in picture 3), looking roughly same as Disney's "Sky Stunt Racer", but it's not open!
• Start sitting in one place from 2.30PM (where picture four is), and just waiting, with a Häagen-Dazs ice cream cart nearby...•
Travel advice coming, highlight it!
• If your hometown already has a theme park of similar scale and size, for example what I mentioned earlier such as Science Popularization Center Chongqing or Suzhou Amusement Park (which is an equally aged local park), then really there’s no need to travel all the way to this Chimelong Happy World in Guangzhou. Listen to me and trust me! Here, there are very few things that are worth visiting and have unique features. -
Oh, and about that 'Interstellar Showdown' ride – as soon as you walk in, there's this really strong, unpleasant smell, kind of like paint. It's awful.
-
Just went there, and I totally agree. (+1)
-
I'm at Guangzhou Chimelong Happy World right now, and it's exactly as you described. It's actually my first time at an amusement park, and my experience and impression haven't been great. I'm disappointed and bored – it's really not that fun.
-
Right? I'm actually sitting right here (like in your fourth picture) watching the parade now. Where are you visiting from?
-
Oh man, I'm planning to travel all the way from Xinjiang, and now I'm really worried it'll disappoint my kids.
-
Not at all! As a local, I think it's actually quite fun. The only downside is that things inside are expensive, so it's wise to bring your own power bank, water, raincoats, and snacks.
-
You probably would have had a better experience if you'd come a year or two earlier. Now, Happy World has even dismantled its motorcycle rollercoaster, the U-shaped ride isn't operating, and the most thrilling 'Rocket' coaster has been closed for a year and a half – such a pity. But to be fair, Chimelong's U-shaped ride is more thrilling than the one at Hong Kong Disneyland because it spins, which really throws you around – haha!
-
Why don't they maintain things properly...?
-
Honestly, this place is primarily for parents with young children. Little kids can't handle the big amusement park rides, and they watch fewer cartoons to protect their eyesight, so places like Disneyland and Universal Studios don't hold much meaning for them. Looking at animals is one of the main things they can do, which also helps with their visual development (like building a 'farsightedness reserve'). It's also something they can easily understand. So, if you don't have kids, there's really no point in coming. If I weren't bringing my child, I wouldn't visit either.
-
I had originally planned to visit Disneyland and Universal Studios. I wanted to go myself, and also wanted my little girl to watch the cartoons and experience the atmosphere. But I found she wasn't very interested. However, when I suggested we go see animals that aren't kept in small cages, she got super excited... The struggles of being a parent, sigh.
-
I just went to Universal Beijing last month. Will I be disappointed going to Guangzhou Chimelong now? To be honest, apart from the Decepticoaster, there wasn't much else thrilling at Universal Beijing, but the immersive experience was top-notch. I wonder if Guangzhou Chimelong can offer some thrills.
-
I think Universal and Disneyland mainly focus on the immersive experience – they're theme parks with huge IPs, so the atmosphere is undeniably great. It's like, you know Disneyland won't have super thrilling rides, but you still want to visit the four international ones. And their maintenance and upkeep are truly excellent. Places like Hong Kong Disneyland and Universal Studios Singapore look the same as they did over a decade ago, no sense of being run-down... Guangzhou Chimelong can't compare in that regard. Without that immersion and atmosphere, you can only hope for thrills. It varies from person to person; I found it just okay.
-
True. If you spend a lot of money and don't get the experience you expected, you're bound to be a bit disappointed. I only spent 425 RMB for two people, and it was covered by my company, so I don't really care, haha. Anyway, I wouldn't go on my own dime; I just went to check it off the list.
-
Money isn't the main issue; it's just a rather ordinary amusement park. If you're traveling a long way to get here, it feels quite unnecessary.
-
Is anyone going on the fourth day of Chinese New Year? Worried it'll be super crowded.
-
I'm also going on the fourth day of Chinese New Year. So scared it'll be packed!
-
I'm planning to go to Chimelong and I'm worried about the crowds too. We've been to Happy Valley frequently this year, and Happy World seems similar to Happy Valley. Is it worth going? If we skip Happy World, then there's only the Safari Park and the Birds Paradise left. Is it still worth going to Chimelong then?
-
Don't have high expectations. If your kids are quite young, it's fine to go... I think the Safari Park is pretty good if you take your time and look around slowly. Although I've seen many say it's not as good as your Daxing Wildlife Park (Beijing), if you go when it's not crowded, I think it's still decent. You can check out my other post about Chimelong Safari Park.
-
So, would a two-day, one-night trip for the Safari Park and the Grand Circus show be enough?
