Guangzhou: Hard Pass. Never Again!

I'm in Guangdong and I'm getting eaten alive by mosquitoes almost every day, like, tons of bites at once! Is it because of the big temperature swings back in the Northeast? Does that make our blood sweeter or something? Why am I the only one getting bitten when there are other Northeasterners in the room?

I guess Northeastern blood really is different. You see all these local beauties with gorgeous legs out on the streets, and not a single bite on them!

We were there for four days, and my husband got 27 mosquito bites! We packed up and hightailed it to Chongqing immediately.

Same here! I got over twenty bites in a single day, even after using mosquito repellent.

None of that stuff works.

People in Guangdong must be immune by now, like their bodies have evolved. The mosquitoes have to target newcomers to survive, otherwise they'd starve to death, hahaha!

I feel like mosquitoes love to bite 'heaty' people (a traditional Chinese concept for having excess internal heat). In my class of 50, I'm the only one they go for.

As a local, I can say I've 'donated' my fair share of blood too. -
From what I've seen, the locals all have smooth, long, slender legs with absolutely no bites.

I got 20 bites in one day, even though I used repellent! It's because I only missed my lower legs, and all 20 bites are right there.
