    My Shenzhen Feels 1

Of course, no problem! Shenzhen, a city that evokes a mix of love and frustration. Allow me to share my perspective, so that international friends can “get it” too:

My impression of Shenzhen is complex—I’ll elaborate slowly:

    • Firstly, Shenzhen truly feels like a hub for ambitious strivers.

      • Many young people come here with the aim of working hard—everyone seems as diligent as an old ox, plowing away at it. It’s not necessarily bad, but the pressure is indeed huge!
      • However, this place’s people are pragmatic, efficient, and honest about what they do, something I cannot help but admire.
    • Shenzhen is a futuristic city, which is really amazing!

      • The region enjoys plentiful investments pouring in from areas surrounding it (for instance, those wealthy magnates from Hong Kong, Macao, and the Greater Bay Area), so opportunities abound.
        • Cultural Tip: The term “Greater Bay Area” refers to a vast economic region in China’s south, encompassing nine cities in Guangdong province and two special administrative regions—Hong Kong and Macao. Think of this vibrant area as a powerful economic engine!
    • Things here occur at a rapid pace, almost feeling “short, flat, and fast.”

      • Everything is fast-paced, so there's often a sense of agitation and impatience.
        • Attention: While development is swift and opportunity is abundant, it can sometimes lead to a “exploitative” atmosphere.
          • Background Explanation: The term “exploiting” vividly describes how people may harness others' eagerness to create quick wealth through informational asymmetry or other tricks. So if you plan on venturing into business or investments here, watch your step and stay vigilant against potential swindles!
    • In such a high-pressure environment, everyone feels anxious.

      • Insomnia could be a common occurrence, and stress manifests through various ailments (like nodules, so palpable). You get the sense that everyone carries their luggage with them, never fully shedding it.
    • But Shenzhen is also brimming with vitality!

      • This is a youthfully energetic city—both its age and demographic make it so. Moreover, compared to the domestic context, its competitive environment seems fairer and more open.
    • As for interpersonal relationships...

      • People seem to value boundaries significantly, as they maintain distance and uphold rules in social interactions; this has both positive and negative aspects.
      • Sometimes one perceives residents as somewhat sensitive, perhaps even “empty,” considering their day-to-day hustle and bustle.

In summary, Shenzhen presents itself as a mixed bag—full of opportunities, though equally full of challenges. Anyone else feeling these sentiments as well? A sense of sentiment arises from nothing!

It's also cultured, civilized, open, inclusive, and diverse.
