Shenzhen: What in the World is Going On? 1

Wow, I've just returned to Shenzhen and was absolutely shocked! Now, it feels like walking on the sidewalks requires constant nervous anticipation!

    • There are electric motorcycles everywhere, known locally as "electric donkeys," zooming around at high speeds, constantly honking, with their headlights blaring into the night. They're virtually out of control!
    • Last night, one of these bikes bumped into my arm, but the rider didn't even stop and immediately sped off after the collision, which infuriated me.
    • ⚠️ SPECIAL REMINDER FOR VISITORS COMING TO SHENZHEN:
      • Take extremely cautious steps when walking across the sidewalks because of those electric scooters and bicycles; they can suddenly appear from any direction.
      • Avoid wearing headphones while walking in case you miss any important surrounding noises; always protect yourself by staying alert.
    • It's strange for me that I don't remember Shenzhen being this way a few years ago; it all seems like a chaotic mess right now.
    • In addition, there has been a noticeable increase in individuals who spit on the ground. Being such a world-class metropolis and generally considered modern and clean, I can't help but feel confused about the current state of hygiene and order in the city.

To be honest, the central districts are a lot better. I was in Futian the other day, and the sidewalks are really wide, with hardly any e-bikes.

So, just because one small area is nice, does that mean we can ignore all the others?

That's why I barely walk outside anymore; it's so frustrating it makes my chest tight. Just last night, I was almost hit by a car while crossing at a crosswalk on a green light. Shenzhen is unbelievable...

Not really. Honestly, it's terrifying with all the constant honking (didi di!).

Spitting! Thank you so much for bringing that up! Personally, I find it absolutely disgusting!
