Hello, my adventurous friends! When visiting Shenzhen, who wouldn't be tempted to stroll around several stunning seaside spots? Indeed, I am one of those enthusiasts looking for coastal beauty and fun!

This time, I set my sights on several areas along the coast surrounding Dapeng Peninsula: Jiaodisha, Yangmeikeng, and Luzui Villa. In theory, if you plan it right, you could visit all three ocean spots in one day. But, unfortunately, my previous trip was quite a nightmare; more about that at the end.

Let's dive into the getting-to-there details:

    1. By car: Just follow the directions your GPS provides, or let your wanderlust spirit lead the way. Traveling between Shenzhen's downtown and the Dapeng Peninsula typically takes an hour and a half without heavy traffic.

⚠Note: However, if you're hitting the road during holidays or weekends, expect much longer travel times as traffic is inevitable.

    2. Public Transport:

1️⃣ From Shenzhen North Railway Station or Futian Bus Station:

Take the bus route E11 to Nan'ao Yueliangwan Station (expect a duration of approximately 2.5 hours). Then switch to route M274 to Yangmeikeng Station (typically 40 minutes).

💡 Tip: The terminal stop for E11 is Xinda. If you board E11 from Shenzhen North Station (which is the starting point), you can guarantee having a seat; once the bus is full, no further passengers are allowed onboard. If you wait for E11 at intermediary stops, you may need to wait through multiple buses before finding available seats.

      下车点最好选南澳月亮湾站,换M274路最方便!

Choosing Nan'ao Yueliangwan Station is the most convenient transfer point for M274.

      2️⃣ M471 route → M274 route:

From city center, take route M471 to Dapeng Center Station, then transfer to M274. This hasn’t been tried by me, so you might want to research further information!

      3️⃣ Subway + Bus:

Take subway line 5 from Huangbeiling Station, then switch to T40 Bus B branch to Nan'ao Yueliangwan Station and transfer to M274 towards Yangmeikeng.

    3. On Foot/Cycle:

If you’re into outdoor activities, cycling down Eastern Coastal Greenway from the city to Yangmeikeng might fit the bill. Though this is not recommended for the non-hardcore types as it could be tiring.

    4. Expense Scenarios in These Areas:

1️⃣ Price-free ticket entrance: The main upside is that there are no entrance fees for these beaches - go wild, have an amazing time, but beware, prices for basic necessities may be a tad higher than the city’s bustling core.

      • For instance, while a bottle of mineral water costs ¥2 in towns, it would rather set you back ¥3 around Jiaodisha.
      • Luckin Coffee, a popular coffee chain, is sold for ¥9.9 in some parts of Shenzhen, but in Yangmeikeng it’s listed with a total of ¥13.9 instead.
      • As for a meal, ¥20 worth of fast food could cost you ¥20 to ¥30 here.
      • Prices at the restaurants are relatively fair, making sure to avoid any surprises during meals since everything remains voluntarily purchased.

      2️⃣ Getting To Luzui:

If you aren't too tired, walking to Luzui along the coast provides an incredibly scenic experience. From Yangmeikeng to Luzui, you could enjoy this journey in half to an hour. Alongside this trail is a breeze blowing that can bring soothing sea waves.

3️⃣ Not Into Walking?: You Can Also Take A Speedboat or Sightseeing Vehicle:

      • Both speedboats and sightseeing vehicles are available near both Lu and Yangmei piers (the current price is ¥35/person per ride via boat, and ¥13.8/person one-way by bus)
      • Both one-way tickets are available, providing an interesting mix of sea and shore experience when done in reverse.

    ⚠My Hard-Earned Lesson (Key Point!):

To cut to the chase, Yangmeikeng isn’t to blame here – it’s me who made the mistake for selecting a time slot during the busy holiday period!

    • My entire day started when I hit the road at eight thirty in morning and ended up straggling around Yangmeikeng only at four.
    • Then after a night drive to get back to Longgang (a part of Shenzhen), we reached home at 3 o'clock the next morning! More than ten hours spent wandering roads, plus merely two hours enjoying climbing and watching the seashore. The stress of waiting in long periods of standing traffic left me sleeping and waking within the vehicle countless times, almost becoming too much to bear!

Yeah, I was supposed to get there before 1 PM, but didn't make it until 4 or 5 PM. It was ridiculously bad!

I really wouldn't recommend going to Dapeng during peak holiday periods. On the way back, I heard someone set off in the morning and didn't even get to the scenic area until after 6 PM. Plus, hotel prices are insane during these peak times – easily one or two thousand, sometimes even several thousand a night! It's a classic case of too many people chasing too few options. You're better off just packing a tent and going camping!
