Shenzhen K11: Epic Fail! My "Avoid This Landmine" Review.
-
Ah, during the May Day Holiday (which is a short break in China for Labor Day, a time when popular tourist destinations are extremely crowded) I went to K11 in Shenzhen with great expectations, only to feel quite disappointed...
Let me share my experience:
Some Disappointing Aspects:
- The ceiling feels so low and makes you feel quite confined, as if unable to breathe properly.
- The overall design feels chaotic and cluttered, using many geometrical patterns such as triangles that made me feel dizzy and left an unpleasant impression.
- The lighting is relatively dim, which made it appear less vibrant and lively in the mall.
- And my biggest complaint regarding the restrooms!
- Not only were they small, but also quite difficult to locate!
- There weren't enough stalls inside.
- In terms of style, it felt out of touch and outdated compared to sleek, clean styles found in modern malls.
- Moreover, the shops appeared small and confined.
I have to admit, these issues - mainly related to building's height and restroom facilities - cannot be easily resolved by simply having reputable brands join later on.
️ However, K11 did not perform poorly in all aspects!
Must-try elements include:- It offers the most impressive feature: a large open-top floor accessible from the top levels, perfect for taking scenic views.
- Additionally, there's a seaside promenade below the mall dedicated to walking and bike riding.
- You could enjoy breathtaking sunsets or peaceful walks under sea breezes in the evenings, definitely a worthwhile experience!
If you're planning a visit to K11 in Shenzhen, make sure to come prepared – especially if you're particular about spatial experience and restroom facilities.

Is anyone still singing Adrian Cheng's praises these days?

Honestly, there's a lot of disappointment internally.
