Taiwanese Friend's Solo Trip Through Mainland China: City Takeaways (Part 1)
-
Hi there, fellow travel enthusiasts!
Here are some genuine impressions and memories made by some of our friends from Taiwan who ventured solo to mainland China, which I wanted to share with you.
- There is a diverse array of places that they visited:
- Fashionable Shenzhen, bustling Shanghai, relaxed Chengdu, cultural Xiamen;
- Time-honored Yangzhou, mysterious Tibet (which is actually a large region with lots of preparation needed before visiting!);
- Food paradise Guangzhou and picturesque Hangzhou… and the list goes on, many places have been left with their footprints!
I truly welcome Taiwanese friends to visit mainland China, explore the unique tales and charms hidden in every city here as well. Can't wait to see and hear more discoveries from you all!

-
He honks so much on the road, did he think he was in India?
-
He's probably comparing it to Taiwan; people there rarely honk. I've driven in Taiwan, and they usually just give a very quick tap. A long or continuous honk is considered a serious provocation there.
-
No good food... I stopped reading/watching right there.
-
He went to Shenzhen. I studied in Guangdong for four years and went to Shenzhen quite a bit. I think if tourists are on a tight budget there, it's genuinely hard to find good places to eat.
-
Speaking of those swarms of motorcycles in Taiwan... they scared me to death when I was there. And they think that's better than traffic in mainland China?
-
No attractive women???
-
Saying Shenzhen has no ramen shops is a joke. There are plenty of Lanzhou ramen places, okay? If he's talking about Japanese-style ramen, maybe it's because they're so bad that they're not popular. There really aren't many of those shops in Shenzhen (though they're not entirely non-existent).
-
In the end, it always comes down to 'Well, it's not as good as Taiwan.'
-
Which part?
-
Are there any reviews from Taiwanese tourists in the US? I'd love to see just how 'pro-Taiwan' they get in their comments.
-
Second-hand smoke is so annoying...
-
Exactly!
-
Honestly, with such a huge population, it's impossible for there not to be attractive women.
-
Seriously, there are SO many pretty women.
-
The fact that it's blurred/pixelated says it all.
