Guangzhou Weather Lately: Freaking Disgusting!! 🀒 1

Alas, the recent weather in Guangzhou has become quite absurd!

    • Can you imagine? It feels like a massive, drippy booger is engulfing the whole city!
      • This sticky, wet feeling gets everywhere and can't seem to be shaken off.
      • For those who are not familiar with the climate of southern China, allow me to explain: Sometimes, a period of intense humidity sets in where the air becomes exceptionally damp, like it is now.
    • Moreover, it is stuffy and hot, with sweat constantly dripping.
      • Some say this sensation is "like being licked by a cow" – indeed, it's that uncomfortable, slippery feeling! The analogy couldn’t be more vivid.
    • I really feel like I'm suffocating in this big blob of "urban booger."
    • It’s so disgusting, making one want to pull their hair out! πŸ‘Ž

⚠️ A reminder for friends planning to visit Guangzhou or other parts of Guangdong:

    • This is typical of the "return south weather" season, or the influence of summer monsoons in Guangdong, where the relative humidity is extremely high, and sometimes accompanied by rain which amplifies the feeling of heat and humidity.
    • Then what can we do?
      • Wear light, breathable clothes; cotton and linen fabrics are best!
      • If you tend to dislike heat, try staying in more air-conditioned places as much as possible, such as malls and metro stations.
      • Always carry a small handheld fan because you will be grateful for the relief it brings.
      • Be mentally prepared to wish you could take a shower at any time!

I'm thinking of visiting during the Dragon Boat Festival, but the weather forecast predicts light rain every day. Does anyone know if it's continuous rain or more like intermittent showers? Generally, how much would this affect outdoor plans?

I think it does impact outdoor activities somewhat. The main issue is the unpredictable weather. Even when it's not raining, it's often overcast. The sun might only peek out for a bit, or conversely, it could be intensely sunny and hot.

Excuse me, could anyone tell me if there was a lot of heavy rain in Guangzhou last week? Specifically around May 19th to these recent days?

It rained almost every day in May.

My freshly washed hair already went flat this afternoon.

Honestly, I've never experienced weather this awful before.

What might have been even more disgusting was Guangzhou last year. It rained continuously from March all the way through May and June. My bedroom ceiling even started growing mold.
