Is it just me, or is everyone in Guangzhou permanently set to 'LOUD'?
-
Oh wow, I've taken so many train rides before, but this one was really surprising!
- On the train, I met some friends from Guangzhou, who, my goodness, haven't stopped talking since they got onboard!
- I honestly don't know how they managed to have such an endless supply of things to talk about, their conversation lasted the entire journey, and at quite a high volume, too!
- There were plenty of other passengers in the train car that needed rest or prefer peace and quiet, but these friends seemed to be completely unaware of it.
- To be honest, with all that loud chattering, my head is ringing and it even gave me a bit of a headache.
Tip for anyone taking trains in China for the first time:
- Warning! Sometimes you might encounter a passenger(s) who can't seem to stop talking, and they may be unaware of how loudly they're speaking.
- How to handle this? If you want some peace and quiet during your ride, itβs best to bring noise-cancelling headphones, earplugs, or an eye mask with you. This way, you can make the trip a little more comfortable for yourself, otherwise, you might end up being bothered by the loud chatter.

Today on the plane, the Guangdong aunties behind me were so loud my head was buzzing... I wouldn't mind them talking, even non-stop, but couldn't they lower their voices a bit? They were shouting like they were in a wet market, even though they were sitting right next to each other. Was there really a need to yell?

Seriously, I think there might be regional differences. They're probably just used to it where they come from. It's just so incredibly loud.
-
Having experienced a 'sound assault' in Guangzhou myself, I couldn't agree more with this post.
-
I completely agree. I don't mean to discriminate based on region, but people from Guangdong (especially the elderly) do tend to speak very loudly.
-
So true.

It's deafening! One of them is as loud as an entire crowd. And a group of them acts like they own the place, waking up past 6 AM and talking at the top of their lungs β I just can't. They don't even lower their voices after lights out at night. I truly don't understand what kind of public etiquette this is.

They're probably all like that where they come from.

It's so incredibly noisy. The Guangzhou subway is the real nightmare
! When a group of them gets on, chattering away, it's like an exploding hot pot.
