China Travel 101: How NOT to Get Your Wallet Absolutely DEMOLISHED by Tourist Traps! #WTFChina #SaveYourCash

Oh, I was quite impressed with Shenzhen initially but my good impressions gradually vanished under the influence of those “nowhere-to-be-seen-one-moment-and-right-next-to-you-the-next” electric scooters and those roadside stalls occupying pedestrian walkways.
-
Here's a big gripe about electric scooters – also to remind my playmates!
- Attention, friends! If you're unfamiliar with traffic conditions in China, especially Shenzhen, be very careful when walking!
- Many electric scooters just dash onto sidewalks and they are virtually noiseless; one moment it was nowhere, next moment it zipped past you. This could really startle or hit someone.
- When walking, keep your eyes away from your phone! Pay extra attention to people around, especially in relatively narrow or crowded places.
-
There are also those roadside stalls:
- I know that roadside stalls add to the atmosphere of a city; some of them indeed sell edible snacks and convenient small items.
- However! Lots of booths encroach on pedestrian walkways directly. With paths not being too wide in the first place, this encroachment takes up more than half of the space and walking straight becomes impossible. The experience is worse than terrible!
- In addition, sometimes these stalls might leave trash and oily stains behind; it's far from ideal!
I hope Shenzhen can improve its management in these aspects otherwise its urban image and traveler’s mood certainly will be badly influenced!

Once you're here, you're basically Indian. Welcome to 'Shen-Delhi'.
-
China's grand stage – step right up if you've got the guts!
-
Yeah, it's true. There are sea views, plenty of parks, and clean public restrooms, but the daily hassle of just walking around can overshadow all of that... especially since you're constantly on foot.
-
It looks like the government is starting to take this seriously. Some districts are already piloting new approaches and studying these issues. Hopefully, things will keep improving.
-
The last time I complained about this Shenzhen issue, several people actually attacked me for it, haha. I was completely baffled.
-
The Greater Bay Area's 'Pioneer Zone for E-scooters.' E-scooters, secondhand smoke, street BBQ, and spitting everywhere – Shenzhen's four 'signature features.' An 'international metropolis' and a 'National Civilized and Sanitary City,' right. Hahahaha. Just laughing as I pass by.
-
And don't forget the screaming kids!
-
I'm completely disillusioned with Shenzhen now. [facepalm]
-
I really want to ask Shenzhen's leaders: when you eventually leave, will you take all these e-scooters with you?
-
Is this really what a first-tier city is supposed to look like? ...
-
Shenzhen's specialties: e-scooters and e-bikes, roadside stalls.
-
Cockroaches, vicious mosquitoes, and endless rain.
