Nanshan, Shenzhen: Is It Actually Safe?
-
Hello, everyone who loves traveling!
I've been on a business trip in Shenzhen and have been staying at the "Yuan Hotel" (Yuan Hotel) in the Nanshan District. It was kind of worrying after reading some discussions by bloggers, but after living here for two days, I feel that this hotel has done quite well in its safety precautions.
-
No food or parcel deliveries to rooms –安心 (peace of mind)!
- I'd like to give this place a big thumbs up! All food deliveries or express packages cannot be delivered directly to your room.
- The hotel's regulations require all deliveries to be received at the Loby, and then you'll need to go down and pick them up yourself. Also, the staff will be there to monitor the whole process, ensuring no one can just deliver it to your room without permission.
- Little tip for foreign friends: In China, delivery of food parcels and parcels is very convenient, you can almost deliver to anywhere, but some hotels may be more lax in security, allowing deliveries to easily enter the guest area, so it’s good that YUAN HOTEL does a great job in increasing the security.

Elevator entry needs Key Card -安心 (peace of mind)!
* This is also a huge plus for me. After entering the elevator, you must swipe your room's access card to press the floor button where your room is located.
* With this policy in effect, non guests or persons without the proper floor authorization will not be able to move around randomly within the hotel floors.
Overall, these two aspects have given me a great sense of security. I used to stay at some hotels before, where food courier personnel could get into the passenger floors at will and knock on doors, which made me feel uneasy! For girls who travel alone, safety is the number one issue.
️ A reminder to all sisters staying outside (pay attention!):
-
Be cautious when checking in:
* When choosing a hotel, pay more attention to the safety measures mentioned in the reviews provided by other people, such as “require using key cards on elevators” and “precautions against outsiders climbing up to the guest floors”.
* Why important? This effectively prevents undesired strangers from getting too close to your room.
* Action plan: Be conscious before making any booking read many past customer reviews or call the reception desk directly to verify the measures before you confirm your room booking. -
**Do not let your guard down:**
- Even if you think the hotel has sufficient security measures, individuals still need to be vigilant. Check the identity through the peephole when there is a knock at the door.
- Why important? Preventing bad guys from being able to take advantage of loopholes easily.
- Action plan: If it looks like a hotel server, they usually report on their identity. Verify with the front desk if uncertain.
I hope everyone can remain safe and enjoy themselves when staying out and about!
