Aaaargh! Is it just me, or is Shenzhen kinda boring?
-
Of course, you can count on me! I am very familiar with Shenzhen!
Now, let me tell you about Shenzhen:
- It is indeed a city of exceptional modernity, towering skyscrapers everywhere, and its energy and fast pace are out of the question! Many foreigners may come here for job opportunities or to experience this "Chinese speed."
- However, if you're like me, who has stayed here for a long time, especially having to work every day, finding a place to relax on weekends can really be a headache!
- It feels like you've only got so many places to go, and the novelty isn't too great. Sometimes it really feels like there's nothing left to explore.
Or in an even more fluid version:
You can rely on me; I know Shenzhen well!
Let me share my thoughts on Shenzhen:
It’s truly a marvelously contemporary city, brimming with towering skyscrapers that reflect its vibrant and bustling atmosphere! Foreigners often visit in search of job opportunities or to experience China’s rapid development firsthand.
However, if you’ve lived here as long as I have, dealing with daily work and looking for weekend relaxation, it can become quite challenging. It seems like the same spots keep recurring, losing their appeal over time – occasionally, venturing out feels somewhat stale and uneventful. -
Kicking off the day by queuing for dim sum at Zhuyuan Hotel, then hitting up Dongmen or Shekou for late-night snacks in the evening – you'll never be bored.
-
Do you realize that's a trek from one end of the city to the other? We're talking over 80km for a round trip!
-
I feel for Shenzhen's working crowd; many are caught in a super competitive work environment. Outside of work, their options are pretty much limited to strolling in parks. The beaches aren't that great an experience, Wutong Mountain has become just another tourist trap, and all those 'intangible cultural heritage' displays? Honestly, they're a bit of a joke.
-
Agreed. Plus, I think people in Shenzhen don't have very high standards for food. They're quick to call things 'delicious' when, honestly, most of it is just average.
-
Come hiking with me!
-
My fracture hasn't been healed for long, so I'll pass on this for now.
-
Your ride is here.
-
Come to Talent Park to check out the good-looking guys and girls.
-
I'm seeing so many kids right now.
-
You really have to hunt for the good food.
-
So little of it around.
-
This is what Shekou looks like today.
-
Planning to move to Yantian.
-
It seems a bit quieter over there.
-
Honestly, it's like that in any city. After a while, it all gets a bit dull. It really comes down to how you choose to spice up your own life.
-
True that.
-
Yeah, compared to Yokohama, that's probably true. Outdoor activities are basically just the seaside or hiking, but neither the mountains nor the sea are particularly amazing. Plus, you get tired of them after a few times, haha.
-
You could go to Hong Kong. The mountains and sea there seem a bit better.
