Shenzhen Pedestrians: Seriously, Still No Wings? π
-
Wow, this marked line is truly a "genius" design, ha-ha! I'd say, let's just as well get rid of the sidewalks and all join together to "fly freely" on the road!
Speaking of friends in Shenzhen, why haven't you guys unlocked your "flight" skills? It's time to reflect on yourselves!
Even with these odd, random lines drawn, those "DiΓ n JΔ«", which are what we commonly refer to as electric bicycles or scooters, completely go against the book and still gallop around everywhere.
I don't know what Shenzhen has been up to these past two years?? It feels like municipal management is getting somewhat messy.
οΈ Important Tips for Tourists in Shenzhen!
- Watch out for "DiΓ n JΔ«" (E-bikes/Scooters)!
- E-bikes are very common in Shenzhen, they drive fast, and their drivers may not necessarily follow traffic regulations or stay within the marked lines. Be very careful when walking or crossing streets by checking your surroundings!
- How to Stay Safe: Always be aware of your surroundings, especially when crossing streets or walking near bike lanes. Don't assume they will stop for you.
- Sidewalks might be...unpredictable!
- As I mentioned, sometimes the non-motor vehicle lanes (for bikes and e-vehicles) get drawn onto sidewalks or are poorly designed. Watch where you step and watch out for e-vehicles running into you.
- How to Stay Safe: Pay close attention to where you are walking. Sometimes the designated pedestrian area isnβt clear or is shared.
- Lane markings are just suggestions
!
- Don't take the black and white lines too seriously, particularly in more chaotic traffic areas. Safety comes first, so remain alert and act with flexibility!
- How to Stay Safe: Don't blindly rely on the lines on the ground; make smart decisions and exercise caution.
- Watch out for "DiΓ n JΔ«" (E-bikes/Scooters)!

Seriously... where are pedestrians supposed to walk? I ride an e-bike too, but this is a bit ridiculous.
-
Even the tactile paving is right next to the vehicle lane.
-
I'm genuinely worried for blind people.
-
Are there even blind people in China? I thought only Japan had them.
-
Next thing you know, they'll be saying we should eliminate pedestrians because they can only walk in the vehicle lanes.
-
It's the same all over the country. E-bikes and street vendors are completely unregulated, it's utter chaos.

@ηεε€η« @ε±ε§ε±ε§ I support Shenzhen people evolving to fly.

What's worst is that on these narrow paths, vehicles come from both directions. When two meet, they have to stop and squeeze past each other, leaving no room for pedestrians. Often, I'd rather walk on the main road; these non-motorized lanes are a free-for-all, with no license plates, so if you get hit, good luck finding the culprit.
-
This is a non-motorized vehicle lane, for bicycles and e-bikes.
-
I suggest imposing a 10% sales tax on e-bikes and using the revenue for the city to build dedicated e-bike lanes.
-
Unbelievable.
-
I feel like Shenzhen is getting worse and worse; it doesn't have the same vibe it used to.

They removed public trash cans and parked a bunch of e-bikes there instead. So now there's more spitting and littering; you can't find a trash can for a kilometer around.
