If you're planning a trip to Suzhou, here's a two-day itinerary that will help you explore the city's highlights without falling into common tourist traps. Let’s dive in!

    Day 1:
Drop off your luggage at the hotel → Stroll along Pingjiang Road → Visit Suzhou Museum → Snap photos at Orient Gate

    Day 2:
Visit Zhuozheng Garden → Climb Huqiu Mountain → Explore Qili Shantang Street (recommended to go in the evening) → Stop by Shuangta Market for local snacks

    Places to See:

    Pingjiang Road:
This is one of Suzhou's most iconic streets, perfect for snapping pictures with its unique background walls. Don’t miss the shop called 'Three Months General Store' and the famous 'Cat Alley'. Even though some graffiti has faded, the charm remains.

    Suzhou Museum:
Designed by world-renowned architect I.M. Pei, this museum is often referred to as his masterpiece. The design uses walls as paper and stones as ink, making it a stunning visual experience. Pro tip: reserve tickets in advance because it gets crowded fast! It's open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, closed on Mondays.

    Zhuozheng Garden:
Considered the crown jewel of classical Suzhou gardens, it opens early at 7:30 AM. If you visit late in the day, expect crowds—trust me, you don't want to be stuck in a mob trying to enjoy “Spring Not Late.” Key spots include Tingyu Pavilion, Jian Shan Tower, and Yuan Xiang Hall.

    Huqiu Mountain:
Known as the top scenic spot in the Wu region, this mountain offers breathtaking views and great photo opportunities, especially near Third Spring Archway and Cold Fragrance Pavilion. Entry costs around $10 USD, and it stays open until 6:00 PM.

    Qili Shantang Street:
A quintessential example of Jiangnan water towns, this street truly shines during sunset when lanterns light up the canals. For the best shots, head over to Xinmin Bridge.

    Orient Gate:
One of Suzhou’s modern landmarks, this towering structure makes for an impressive backdrop if you’re looking to take professional-style photos.

    Shuangta Market:
If you're craving authentic local flavors, this market is where you'll find them. It's a favorite among locals and serves everything from dumplings to sweet soups.

Suzhou blends ancient beauty with modern flair, offering something for everyone. Just remember to plan ahead and avoid peak hours to fully appreciate its wonders.
