Not Even Once. Not all of them; most locals are actually quite nice. If you're there as a tourist spending money, they'll definitely welcome you. But if you're unlucky and run into some staunch 'deep-green' supporters (a political term), they might deliberately taunt you with remarks like, 'Oh, so you're from the "mighty nation"?'

Nanshan, Shenzhen: Is It Actually Safe?Hello, everyone who loves traveling!
I've been on a business trip in Shenzhen and have been staying at the "Yuan Hotel" (Yuan Hotel) in the Nanshan District. It was kind of worrying after reading some discussions by bloggers, but after living here for two days, I feel that this hotel has done quite well in its safety precautions.
-
No food or parcel deliveries to rooms –安心 (peace of mind)!
- I'd like to give this place a big thumbs up! All food deliveries or express packages cannot be delivered directly to your room.
- The hotel's regulations require all deliveries to be received at the Loby, and then you'll need to go down and pick them up yourself. Also, the staff will be there to monitor the whole process, ensuring no one can just deliver it to your room without permission.
- Little tip for foreign friends: In China, delivery of food parcels and parcels is very convenient, you can almost deliver to anywhere, but some hotels may be more lax in security, allowing deliveries to easily enter the guest area, so it’s good that YUAN HOTEL does a great job in increasing the security.
-
Elevator entry needs Key Card -安心 (peace of mind)!
* This is also a huge plus for me. After entering the elevator, you must swipe your room's access card to press the floor button where your room is located.
* With this policy in effect, non guests or persons without the proper floor authorization will not be able to move around randomly within the hotel floors.
Overall, these two aspects have given me a great sense of security. I used to stay at some hotels before, where food courier personnel could get into the passenger floors at will and knock on doors, which made me feel uneasy! For girls who travel alone, safety is the number one issue.
️ A reminder to all sisters staying outside (pay attention!):
-
Be cautious when checking in:
* When choosing a hotel, pay more attention to the safety measures mentioned in the reviews provided by other people, such as “require using key cards on elevators” and “precautions against outsiders climbing up to the guest floors”.
* Why important? This effectively prevents undesired strangers from getting too close to your room.
* Action plan: Be conscious before making any booking read many past customer reviews or call the reception desk directly to verify the measures before you confirm your room booking. -
**Do not let your guard down:**
- Even if you think the hotel has sufficient security measures, individuals still need to be vigilant. Check the identity through the peephole when there is a knock at the door.
- Why important? Preventing bad guys from being able to take advantage of loopholes easily.
- Action plan: If it looks like a hotel server, they usually report on their identity. Verify with the front desk if uncertain.
I hope everyone can remain safe and enjoy themselves when staying out and about!

Guangzhou: So Boring, Even We Locals Think So (Vol. 01)Wow, I never expected my last post to receive so many responses and understanding from my friends!
Here’s the explanation for why I feel “bored”:
- I actually work in the tourism and culture industry, so I’ve pretty much been around all of Guangzhou's big and small attractions such as various parks and old streets. I have visited the famous Canton Tower (that uniquely tall tower that’s a symbol of Guangzhou) countless times, more than any other local people I know! Local jokes often say "real Guangzhou people don’t go to the Canton Tower," hehe, I have already broken this "curse" several times! Therefore, the freshness has indeed diminished.
- Another reason is that I underwent minor heart surgery several years ago, and my doctor prohibited me from doing any intense workouts till present days. So activities suggested by my friends such as mountain climbing would not be an option for a while. Without hopping around too much, fewer choices of leisure activities lead me to feel bored more easily.
However, things came into a fresh progress! I really agree with what one of my friend said: "with a companion, there will always be something fun wherever you go." Therefore, I immediately arranged to meet up with friends. We enjoyed delicious desserts and chatted about recent interesting events (or as we call it, "gossips", the passing of secrets and new stories), wandering slowly from daytime to night
. It was indeed an overly happy day!
Maybe next time, I can share the small joys and episodes in weekend life again!
#RecordLifeMoments #GuangzhouWeekend #EatingAndDrinkingWishing everyone a great weekend!
PS: By the way, I am super satisfied with my makeup that day! -
GBA Lantern Fest Ending Soon? Dodge the Nansha Drama! Not at all! When I went on Sunday, I also visited the beach, and there were many kids playing in the sand. The beach is free, and so is the Tianhou Palace. Maybe you just couldn't find the entrance.

Beijing Travel: If I Can Save Just ONE of You from the Current Madness...Let me give you a piece of advice: I genuinely wouldn't recommend visiting Beijing during the months of July and August.
Why? Here are the reasons:
-
Summer Vacation Crowds Warning:
- These two months coincide with Chinese students’ summer vacation. You can think of it as a set period when people from all over China go on trips together, so everywhere is just packed with people.
- Getting anywhere will require long queuing, so be prepared for that! If you want to sightsee properly, sorry, but it's pretty hard – all you see are people’s heads.
-
Local Residents Taking Off:
- To be honest, many local Beijingers use this time to get out of town for a trip themselves.
- Mainly to avoid becoming part of the large crowds of tourists and to escape Beijing's hot, muggy weather – definitely not enjoyable.
-
Travel Experience Might Take a Hit:
- With more people and heat, no matter where you go, your mood and travel experience can easily deteriorate.
So,
- if you don't want to stare at the back of people's heads or suffer through the heat, please genuinely consider planning to visit during other times. You’ll have a much better time then.

First Time in Suzhou: Honestly? Kinda Underwhelmed. We visited the gardens thinking they were a special feature, but didn't realize they weren't suitable for children. We also took the subway, which was generally fine, but some transfer stations lacked direct elevators, so we had to carry our stroller up stairs. Personally, I feel it's better suited for young adults or families with children who are at least kindergarten-aged.
