Latest Update: Shanghai-Fujian-Taiwan Group Tours Dead in the Water! 1

Alrighty, I must address this matter!

    • The buzz has been building up for a while now, and the official confirmation is here!
      • What's the news? It's about our friends in Taiwan who can now enjoy independent travel ("freedom travel") to certain places on the mainland without going with a tour group.
      • Which regions are included?
        • Fujian Province: If you're unfamiliar with this province, it's situated right across the Taiwan Strait from Taiwan. They are in close proximity, and their culture and language (e.g. Hokkien) share many similarities with Taiwan.
        • Shanghai: No need to elaborate on this bustling international metropolis, known as "the Magic City"!
      • ⚠️ Special Notice (Especially for Friends from Taiwan):
        • If you have always desired to explore either of these regions independently, but may have hesitated due to policy uncertainties or cumbersome procedures.
        • What now? Take action now! Check out the latest official information and application process. It seems that the procedures have become much more convenient, so start planning your trip!
    • This is indeed a good news for all Taiwanese looking forward to independent travel to these beautiful destinations such as Fujian and Shanghai.

Otherwise, what's there to talk about? There are no inherent enemies in the world, just different standpoints. You'll understand if you spend enough time in neutral territories. I work in duty-free, and Taiwanese people are much easier to get along with than Hongkongers...

Shenzhen Pedestrians: Seriously, Still No Wings? 😅 1

Wow, this marked line is truly a "genius" design, ha-ha! I'd say, let's just as well get rid of the sidewalks and all join together to "fly freely" on the road!

Speaking of friends in Shenzhen, why haven't you guys unlocked your "flight" skills? It's time to reflect on yourselves!

Even with these odd, random lines drawn, those "Diàn Jī", which are what we commonly refer to as electric bicycles or scooters, completely go against the book and still gallop around everywhere.

I don't know what Shenzhen has been up to these past two years?? It feels like municipal management is getting somewhat messy.

⚠️ Important Tips for Tourists in Shenzhen!

    • Watch out for "Diàn Jī" (E-bikes/Scooters)!
      • E-bikes are very common in Shenzhen, they drive fast, and their drivers may not necessarily follow traffic regulations or stay within the marked lines. Be very careful when walking or crossing streets by checking your surroundings!
      • How to Stay Safe: Always be aware of your surroundings, especially when crossing streets or walking near bike lanes. Don't assume they will stop for you.
    • Sidewalks might be...unpredictable!
      • As I mentioned, sometimes the non-motor vehicle lanes (for bikes and e-vehicles) get drawn onto sidewalks or are poorly designed. Watch where you step and watch out for e-vehicles running into you.
      • How to Stay Safe: Pay close attention to where you are walking. Sometimes the designated pedestrian area isn’t clear or is shared.
    • Lane markings are just suggestions 😉!
      • Don't take the black and white lines too seriously, particularly in more chaotic traffic areas. Safety comes first, so remain alert and act with flexibility!
      • How to Stay Safe: Don't blindly rely on the lines on the ground; make smart decisions and exercise caution.

Shenzhen: Tourist Nightmare? Why Everyone Says 'Steer Clear!' 1

Alright, it feels like addressing the world in an airport lobby, I get it I get it! If we put it in a casual tone for our forum discussion, here’s how it would be:

    • Hey, fellow travelers! Are you, like me, feeling the itch to go out and explore the world?
      • Particularly, I want to find some quiet places with beautiful views, rather than battling the crowds. Got any tips for off-peak travel?
      • Do you have any cities that you fell in love with and would never mind visiting again and again? Share them!
      • (In confidence, I've stumbled upon "Xiaohongshu," a popular platform among Chinese users for sharing life experiences and discoveries of great items, kind of like Instagram and Pinterest combined. Inspired by all the wonderful destinations, I am reaching out to helpful members of our community for advice.)
      • The point is: avoid scams! Request guidelines!
        • For us, "modern office workers" (referred to as hardworking young people), a trip out isn't easy and there are fears of encountering "minefields" or being misled.
        • Could those with experience share how not to fall into traps and miss out on troubles during trips?
        • Please offer a reliable travel guide or any hidden secrets to traveling well would also be great!
      • Bottom line: I'm itching to go on a trip! Come help me!

  • Shenzhen: My Two Cents (Spoiler: It's... Something)

    1. For Shenzhen Bay Park, you missed the Talent Park section – that's the main highlight. 2. At Sea World, you didn't go to the actual seaside, which is the city's most beautiful coastal area; another key spot missed. 3. For Dameisha, you skipped the seaside boardwalk, so you missed the best part there too. That's about it.
