The Minnan (Hokkien) accent in some parts of northern Taiwan sounds a lot like the one in Xiamen.

Hangzhou Peeps: For Real, You ALL Like This?!So many people complain about Hangzhou being a 'food desert,' so seeing a post praising it feels really heartwarming. I'm not from Hangzhou myself, but as someone also from Zhejiang province, I definitely want to see our provincial capital being loved by tourists. I really like Hangzhou too and visit quite often for fun.

Just back from Hangzhou! And my advice is...They're right in the city center, haha!

That North Bund 'Little Egg' Boat? Aaaand It's Sailed!Hello! I am here to share some pitfalls that I encountered while taking photos in Shanghai on the 3rd. This is to remind my friends coming for游玩 (I will adapt this sentence to be more natural in English).
• Want to take photos near the "Little Egg"? Be cautious!
- The "Little Egg" refers to a spherical observation deck near the famous Oriental Pearl TV Tower in Shanghai, which has been nicknamed as such due to its round shape.
- When I went there, a huge ship just happened to be docked by the Huangpu River (a major river running through the city center), completely blocking the view of the Lujiazui district on the other side of the river (the area with skyscrapers like Shanghai Tower and Jinmao Tower) from my sight!(just like in my photo P1)
- At the time, they were supposedly hosting a coffee festival, so many places along the river had temporary tents and decorations set up; it also affected the photo-taking scenery.•
️ Important photography tip:
- If you plan to go for photography at the "Little Egg" in the morning, chances are that you might encounter backlighting issues! Backlighting happens when the sun is behind your subject (for instance, the Oriental Pearl), making taken pictures look a bit gray and less appealing.• Treasure trove discovered photography spot!
- I was feeling upset then; promptly, I searched for potential solutions on XiangXiaoliu (a life-sharing app where you can find tons of travel tips and amazing product recommendations).
- So I moved to Lujiazui subway station's entrance nearby, to this certain mall.
- Directly head to level 5 to access a little rooftop terrace.
- wow! That place had an absolutely fantastic view and angle! Even during the May Day Labor holiday (a crucial public holiday in China, famous for being packed), it remained relatively uncrowded (as seen in my photo P2). This revelation saved my day of photography.• (Second update):
- A friend added a comment: the view at North Bund (another scenic overlook along the Huangpu River, across from Lujiazui) is exceptionally good, especially at night, and apparently stunning! When I have the opportunity again, I will make sure to check out that must-visit spot!• (Third update):
- Fabulous news! The big ship blocking the view finally left! Everyone can now have fun taking photos again! -
OK, give me the Chinese title.I'm a tourist from out of town, and I posted on Xiaohongshu (a social media app) out of anger because of the rude treatment I received. However, um, it's not really about regionalism. I just genuinely think that my experiences over the past few days should be enough for Didi to seriously reflect on their service quality and oversight issues.

Suzhou: Send Ice, I'm Officially Melting! It's very hot and sunny during the day, so dress as lightly as possible. I'd recommend bringing sun-protective clothing and an umbrella. The first evening I arrived, it was a bit chilly, so a light jacket or your sun-protective top would be good.

Suzhou: Don't Get Zapped! (A WTF Guide to Tourist Traps)Loquats and bayberries... so many places grow them, and honestly, they're much tastier than Suzhou's. Just like with bamboo shoots, Suzhou is pretty much at the northern edge of where these things grow, so the quality difference compared to regions like Zhejiang and Fujian is quite noticeable.

WTF?! China Street Food Beats Michelin Stars? Mind Blown!I just got back. I thought I'd avoid the holiday rush, but the few gardens I visited were absolutely packed, just seas of people, shoulder to shoulder. I don't get it – it's supposed to be the off-season! Where did all these people come from? Don't they have jobs, or are they all like me, taking time off to travel? And it's expected to get even warmer next week.

WTF?! China Street Food Beats Michelin Stars? Mind Blown!- Avoid staying near Guanqian Street or Pingjiang Road. Instead, consider hotels near Xiyuan Temple or Hanshan Temple. 2. Don't buy qipaos (cheongsams) at tourist spots or trendy 'influencer-hyped' shops; they're overpriced there. 3. Many attractions are close to each other, so don't bother with taxis for short distances. What might be a 10-minute walk could easily become a 30-minute drive due to Suzhou's many one-way streets. Shared bikes or e-scooters are great for getting around the city center. 4. If you're heading to the 'Gate to the East' (the 'Big Pants' building) in the Industrial Park, don't rely on a small e-scooter; it's quite a distance from the city center. 5. For qipaos, check out Hengyuanxiang on the 3rd floor of Jinmen International Commercial Plaza near Xiyuan Temple. It's a factory outlet for qipaos and silk. The shopping experience is fantastic: you can try on anything, the staff are incredibly helpful, they offer on-the-spot alterations, and they'll even gift you freshwater pearl earrings if you post about them on Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book).
