Guangzhou Is Officially Driving Me Nuts! 1

    • Well, speaking frankly, there are indeed parts of Guangzhou that can be quite overwhelming and messy, and the cleanliness and orderly conditions leave much to be desired.
    • Guangzhou has international recognition as a metropolis in southern China, akin to the face of the entrance door, attracting numerous foreign friends.
    • It’s rather perplexing why a city with such great fame does not seem have the basic cleanliness, order, and upkeep in places that tourists might frequent.
    • Seeing this kind of sights does put one off, and I do hope that the local authorities will give this due consideration and take positive measures for improvement.

⚠️ Here's a heads up for all those who plan to visit Guangzhou:

    • Mental Preparation: Guangzhou is a vast city, and some of its areas may not be as shiny and glamorous as the central business district (like Zhujiang New Town CBD). Particularly when exploring older neighborhoods, or near bustling markets, the environment and sanitation might not be up to the standards found elsewhere in the city.
    • How to Cope:
      • Adjust your expectations and recognize that not everything will be meticulously clean.
      • If you're sensitive to your surroundings, opt for activities and dining in newer districts, large shopping malls, or renowned tourist attractions.
      • When exploring the old town, immerse yourself in the authentic cultural experiences. Embrace and tolerate imperfections, focusing instead on the ambiance of history and an understanding of everyday life among the locals.

Electric scooters alone are a massive headache.

Honestly, Guangzhou is dirty, messy, and chaotic, like a slum. Even the city center is like this – electric scooters everywhere, piles of trash, street vendors, and endless road construction.

It's your office and living situation that are subpar, not the city itself. If you could afford a better place and a nicer work environment, you wouldn't be complaining so much, dear.

So you think there are no electric scooters once you step out of luxury condos like Tianluan or Huiyuetai in Zhujiang New Town, huh? Clearly, your understanding of Guangzhou is pretty superficial.

The dirtiest, messiest, and most chaotic city in the whole country, hands down.

A disgrace to Guangzhou. No parking spots to be found, and an even greater lack of community spirit or warmth.

The unpredictable downpours are the absolute worst.

I seriously can't take it anymore. People urinating and defecating in public is a common sight – I always have to watch my step. The drainage is awful too; a bit of heavy rain and it floods, and the stagnant water is disgusting. It's unbearable.
