That 'Romantic' Yunnan Trip? My Wallet Got Assassinated. #WTFChina 1

Absolutely, this is something I'm quite familiar with! Here's the truth about Chimelong Safari Park (a heads-up for those planning to visit):

    • This trip, Chimelong Safari Park was the highlight of my itinerary. I couldn't wait to check it out!
    • But in reality... hmm... is that all? 🤷‍♀️
      • I know this may generate some backlash.
      • Nevertheless, I feel obliged to be completely honest with everyone: if it requires a specially long trip, it surely doesn't worth your effort especially trek this far.
    • ⚠️ Important Notice (Must read if you'd like to avoid pitfalls):
      • Animal Quantity and Condition:
        • I was surprised at how few animal species there were and that many looked skinny and lethargic.
        • Honestly, compared to the Zoological Parks I've visited such as Hangzhou Zoo or Shanghai Zoo which are located in major eastern Chinese cities and known for their reputation, it somehow lacks attraction.
*(A little fun fact: Both Hangzhou and Shanghai are great eastern Chinese cities and their zoos do make quite an impression, hence made for this comparison.)
      • What’s Worth Praise:
        • If one must admit an upside, it would be the beautiful flora and overall environment within the park.
      • Therefor my recommendation is:
        • If your main objective is to witness a variety of active and lively wildlife then... I suggest you may reconsider your decision.

This is the first I've heard that Guangzhou Chimelong has few animals.

I kind of felt that too. Maybe many were on loan when I visited? The viewing area I was at didn't have any leopards or lions.

As someone from Liaoning (implied by 'Liao A' license plate), we go to Chimelong every year, that's how much we love it! If you think the animals are skinny and scarce, you might as well just stay home and sleep – you'll find everything you want in your dreams.

It's your business if you love it, no need to seek validation here.

I've already bought my tickets; I'm going on June 1st (Children's Day).

Did you perhaps go to the Bird Park (Feiniao Leyuan)?

Did you visit the Golden Monkey Kingdom at the North Gate?

Are you sure you went to Chimelong Guangzhou and not the Guangzhou Zoo? This is the first time I've heard of Chimelong's animals being skinny.

Maybe they prefer animals that are fattened up like prize pigs.

I went today. There were plenty of animals, and I didn't think any of them looked skinny.

Then again, maybe it's because my kid isn't that interested in animals, so I didn't really look closely myself...

I wouldn't say they're skinny, but the variety of species is indeed a bit lacking.

Some animals are kept at their Qingyuan base.

Perhaps it was Changlu Farm (Changlu Nongzhuang) in nearby Foshan? They genuinely have fewer animals there.
