Thank you so much for this detailed guideβIβm taking my parents next month and wanted to follow this itinerary but worried about them walking too much. Which spots may not be suitable for elderly visitors? Is staying near Seven Li Shantang okay?

Seriously, what's the deal with the non-stop 'China Travel Warning' posts? It's not that I'm genuinely against posts warning about things to avoid. If they're truly about issues like food safety, travel hazards, or illegal activities, I'd wholeheartedly support them and show no leniency. But these days, the 'avoid this' posts online are becoming increasingly ridiculous.

Shenzhen Pedestrians: Seriously, Still No Wings? πI suggest imposing a 10% sales tax on e-bikes and using the revenue for the city to build dedicated e-bike lanes.

Shenzhen North!! Seriously Freaked Me Out!I think many people fail to respect an individual's autonomy and complete freedom. Government shelters and aid organizations are just options for someone; they don't have to take them. As long as this person isn't harming you or others, you have no right to demand they leave, or ask the government to remove their dwelling, or evict them. Your concerns about 'city appearance,' 'cleanliness,' or 'potential danger' are often just excuses for things that haven't even happened. Issues like river pollution, buried construction debris, sewage discharge, and poor local governance are far greater harmsβthese individuals, on the other hand, might pose no harm at all.

LOL, Guangzhou's current 'mental state'... I just can't. π¦ #Guangzhou #chinatravel.wtfSure, here's the translation into English:
Ah! Let me chat a bit about my May Day holiday in Guangzhou β it was simply a "disaster"!
- The five-day holiday resulted in four whole days with buckets of rain! I felt I couldn't move at all and nowhere could be reached.
- No good weather was seen right from the start since my holiday trip began. While seeing everyone's travel pictures on WeChat Moments being under the bright sun made me envious beyond words!
- Want to go out? People were everywhere like a carnival. The shopping center that I was originally planning to visit looked crowded, prompting me to give up the thought immediately upon seeing the scene.
- Subway? No way! It would probably be jam-packed too.
- Taxi? By day two, I realized deeply that even if you were not in the hyper-congested city center, there would be no cars available to call...
Here's a reminder for friends who are coming to China for travels (especially those not familiar with the situation):
- Caution: The Labor Day holiday is one of the most important public holidays in China (equivalent to your legal long holiday). This means:
- The places will be super crowds! Especially in big cities such as Guangzhou, famous sites, shopping centers, restaurants, etc., will all be full of people like mountains.
- How to respond: If you don't like crowds, you can consider avoiding these national holiday traffic peaks, or choose some lesser-known cities or tourism spots.
- Caution: Located in Southern China, Guangzhou experiences sudden weather changes quite easily during this season (spring and summer), including heavy rains which may strike at any moment.
- How to respond: Before going out, always pay attention to the weather forecast. Be sure to carry an umbrella or raincoat with you. If there are continuous heavy rains, prepare for some indoor activities, such as visiting museums or coffee shops, as alternative plans in advance.
- Caution: Due to holidays and bad weather, getting a taxi or fitting inside the subway become particularly hard.
- How to respond: If possible, try to avoid peak times when going out. If you have to get a taxi, you need extraordinary patience, or try other ride-hailing apps.
Therefore, my holiday basically involved staying home listening to the rain sounds. Please share some beautiful sunny and joyful vacation photos in the comment section, following you "virtual travel" along, satisfying me as well!

Shanghai Price Shock! My Wallet's Weeping πDining in Shanghai is also super expensive. A very ordinary meal will set you back 40-50 RMB, and if you want something a bit nicer, it can easily cost several hundred. Hotels are pricey too.
